Well I’m NOT a box connoisseur but I was always told the pinion side was the crown side, i.e. the big driver gear which is the driver’s side of the car on Clio's. Gear side is the smaller driven side the one the circlips are supposed to hold in.
1998 1.2's dont have them otherwise i'd of thought the same. As far as i know Renault call the circuit board in the passenger footwell a multi timer unit on those models.
OK that sounds (your utube clip) exactly like your starter motor solenoid is sticking. This would cause the sound when it does start (as the starter cog tries to disengage the fly wheel) and stop it from starting at all (as the solenoid engages the starter motor cog then connects the motor to...
Why not clear them then take the car for a drive and re-read any reproduced codes. They could just be from mechanics working at the car and forgetting to reconect lambda sensors then seeing the MIL, rechecking and reconecting bits. Fault code stored but MIL turned back off.
Similar occurance with my interior light a few years ago. Went for weeks with it setting the alarm off. Fault cleared itself after I’d pulled most of my car apart and all of my hair out, but due to the fact that the only thing that links all your problems is the multi-timer unit below the fuse...
3 box's..... What on earth are you doing to them? Are you doing track days?
I did the same thing to my box but that was due to a rush of blood to the head one day when I decided to see what would happen if I changed into second with the wheels still spinning. Bad idea. Diff went. Pinion side...
1: Have you checked that the two yellow permanent live wires haven't become separated on the Alpine loom?
2: Have you checked that the fuse hasn't blown in the fuse block while you were fitting the remote adaptor
3: Autoleads for reasons only known to themselves based their first looms for the...
Not sure about the standard head units but the likes of Alpine and Pioneer head units have a cut-out which turns off the internal amp (and so the sound) when there is a short circuit on one of the speaker wires. The short could be to another speaker wire or to earth and would have the same...
Hi, just thought I’d ask you all if anyone else has had this problem. About two years ago the interior dome light started to illuminate, but only dimly and randomly. Id be sitting in the house and the aftermarket alarm would start deafening the neighbours, making me jump up with cricket bat in...
Yep the Reluctor ring has gone. Rusted off by the looks of it. It's really not worth trying to find one as a replacement as there not that easy come by and I'd near place money on the fact that Renault will look for you to buy a whole new CV joint. You could get one of these from a motor factors...
Is changing the fan a dash out job?
No. Its at the bottom of the windscreen on the outside of the car. one plastic cover held in by a plastic split pin. the fn is held in by three 7mm or 8mm hex head screws.
The fact that your killing a battery every couple of months ("as the battery must be about a month or so old at most.") points to another problem. I take it you got a new battery because the old one died. I'd look for a power drain in the car killing the battery or a faulty alternator. Halfords...
No, if the light came on at all the ECU should of stored a code. You'll need to plug in the code reader, turn on the ignition and read the code. As for which sensor it is that depends on the car and code reader. If its pre 2001 then the chances are reduced unless you have a reader like the Autel...
Can also be the gear linkage mec. If you've had work done under the car or a stone or curb has hit the linkage rod, the rod could be bent or the joint has been slightly twisted.
Could be the handbrake switch is sticking. Behind the handgrip on the handbrake lever there is a plastic cover. Hold either side and pull back as you would when applying the handbrake. It should pivot from the other end inside the lower handbrake surround. Now pull the cover along the line of...
Fuel vapour from the sealed fuel tank is released into this canister when the engine isn’t running and stored there instead of being released to the atmosphere. The vapour is then sucked into the inlet manifold and burnt in the cylinders when the engine is running and the ECU opens a valve...
Can also be the washer pump. Seen it a couple of times where the pump will run but no water is pumped. Both times i've seen it (on a PH21.2 and PH21.4) though it was the front which wouldn't wash but the rear did, even though there is only one pump!
