Had a bit of a go with a silver mk2 172 on the Windsor bypass up to the M4 Slough junction last night at around 2000h.
Looked like it had a different back box. Very clean too. Carried on straight in towards Slough.

Its all to do with the amount of hot air there is under the bonnet of the performance Clios.
You need cold air thru the induction kit/airbox to increase performance, so if you put an induction kit in and no cold air feed your performance will suffer as it is sucking in hot air.
You cna get...
Yeah cant really remove fog light as its a lease car, but should be able to mod the front grille and also gain some space if i cut a few inches from the bit between the PiperX and the engine block air intake.
The part i am on about is just above the filter in the pic.

Will be working on the cold air feed for my Viper next weekend with a relative who prepares World Sidecar rigs (so he knows a thing or 2 !!) so hopefully will get more air in thru the Viper after that.
Once thats done its on to Mowatts !!
I got a Viper and boy has it made a difference. Car performs very differently now, the valve timing change is very noticeable and it is definitely quicker.
Will hopefully RR it at Mowatts next time i am in Essex at my mums place.
Nick - will let you know in case you are interested to see...
Not actually for the 172, but I have been offered a set of 15" steel rims with wheel trims. They are fitted with 175/65 R15 Bridgestone B365 tyres, and they have been on a brand new car for 2200 miles, which has just had different size alloys fitted.
What sort of money would I expect to offer...
From looking at pics of the mk1 172 there is a small vent (2 slots) below the headlight.
Unfortunately there is not one of these on the mk2
Still searching for somewhere to put it however....
Sorry to be a party pooper but even by my very rough timings from a stopwatch done by a mate this lunchtime with me driving, the car was definitely quicker 20-60, 30-70 and 50-80mph.
I have used a Ramair kit before that lost me bhp but gained low down torque, but this kit definitely improves...
wallis - its easy to remove the airbox. there are 2 bolts at the front and back (20mm ones) that you undo. unclip the 2 cold air feed hoses (one clips to the airbox and the other clips to a metal bracket next to the front of the car) and it lifts out.
and believe me i would love to move the...
Heres some pics. I didnt mount the kit with the bracket supplied, I used a bracket I had from my Ramair kit i have previously used.

Well I finally got the kit fitted yesterday afternoon. It was a b@stard of a job, as there is so little space under the bonnet of the mk2 172.
The cold air feed pipe has been taken out of the front of the airbox and i have fixed the standard air feed pipe for the original airbox into it...
Looks that way Nick !!
I am a bit concerned in removing a fog light for the air pipe. Surely that means that in wet weather you will get a lot of water up the pipe, through the induction kit and in the engine ?? This cant be good.
I will do my damnedest to get the pipe under the bonnet i...
I have had a Viper kit on order for about 5 weeks now thru Carnoisseur in Southend. Chris there has had problems with the Pipercross distributor, who has had problems with getting the Viper kits from the factory.
He told me last week it would be about 10 days until I would get the kit. Then...
I have the factory fit Continental ContiSport Contact 195/45 R16s on my car at the moment.
I have heard that the Michelin Pilot Exaltos are very well suited to the Clio and the cars wet-handling is vastly improved, as well as the dry handling.
Does anyone else use these tyres ???? If so...
