I have a 2002 Mk2 Clio Sport and I want to sound deaden my doors (and the rest of the car actually) something like this:

(Check the pics of the doors to see what I mean)
Im sure somebody has done something like this before... how...
I have a lead and Alpine/Renault changer for sale too if anyone is interested... Im in Australia, but it wont cost much to ship it.

Ever tried getting that f*ing cable out of a clio? Its wound around and around a metal bar under the dash, and wrapped in sticky stuff so it doesnt just pull out... PITA!
Ok, how about this one...
.. I was unscrewing the bolt from the foot rest next to the clutch plate, and... ping! the damned bolt falls into the hole just below it and into the the gap underneath the floor... who knows where it is now! I think that wont be coming back. I think the Clio is full...
Ok, in case anyone else was wondering, both options are possible - the head unit from a mk2 will go into a mk1, and the cd changer from a mk2 will work with the head unit from a mk1. This is from the Renault spare parts people.
Scott.
If I had it, I wouldnt have asked here...
...but I dont, so thats why I need to know. Its actually on behalf of someone else that wants to buy the changer from my Mk2 but he has a Mk1.
Scott.
What I want to do is take the factory changer out of a Mk2 and put it in a Mk1. I need to know if the connections are the same. So if I take the Mk2 cd changer out, will it plug into the Mk1 head unit, or did they change them when the Mk2 came out?
Are the radios and/or connecters the same on...
Hi everyone!
Will the cd changer from a 2002 model Clio 172 work with the head unit from a Mk1? Will it plug straight in? If not, then is there an adapter available?
If it wont work, and theres no adapter, then can a 172 head unit be put into a Mk1 and still retain all the controls? I.e...
Yup, this has been covered a stack of times.
Everyone will tell you to push out the bonnet release cable grommet and drill it. Well, I couldnt get mine out no matter what I tried to do, so I ended up pushing it thru into the engine bay (well, its kinda behind the wheel arch) and running my 4g...
Well, my head unit doesnt have any manufacturer names on it except "Renault" and "Made in France". I doubt its made by them tho.
The model number is 22DC278/62H. So that sounds like a VDO number, doesnt it?
Just in case its usefull...

Theres no minimum length. Remember that the fuse is there to protect the *cable*, not the devices attached to the end of it. So if you have a fuse, then all the cable after the fuse is protected from catching fire if it shorts (as long as you dont change wire gauge). The bit that is *before* the...
Nah, the factory one isnt that bad... but it can be soooo much better! Plus, if youre going to put in an amp, then speaker level inputs will be sh*te. Besides, you can buy an adapter for the controls, and why would you want to look at that crap little orange display, when you could have a much...
Maybe the problem is that youre not pushing them in far enough. When you push them (nails, coat hanger wire, whatever) in the holes youre actually flattening four little spring-up clips.
So you need to push it in at least 3/4"! Then youll feel some resistance as the nails/wire hits the...
Yup, I just used 4 nails that were slightly narrower than the holes. Behind, theres 4 clips and when you push something in the holes, it pushes the clips out of the way. So you need all four at the same time. Just push them in there, and the HU just slides out. Youll need to give it a bit of a...
I just finished wiring up my system, and I just thought Id let you guys know about this http://www.bcae1.com/images/swfs/systemdesignassistant.swfCalculator which I found usefull!

What speakers do you have at the front? How much are you thinking of spending? Have you heard what it will sound like with front/rear rather than front or front/sub? Good fronts (splits) plus a good sub should sound fine - you really dont need rear speakers unless youre planning on sitting in...
Does one have a stripe running along its length, the other just plain?
Otherwise, buy a cheap-o multimeter. Always handy for doing installs (especially if it has a continuity tester as well). (:

Theres no need to worry about which is positive and which is negative. They can be connected either way. All you DO have to worry about is getting them both connected THE SAME way, or youll get cancellation.
So, if you connect pink to the big spade plug on one side, connect it the same on...

I live in Melbourne... thats the problem with testing different speakers (:

Excellent! That means the speakers I want will fit...
Hiya JJ!
Woohoo! Thats fantastic. The two types of splits Im looking at are 60mm and 71 mm deep. So if theres space for 7.6cm, thats plenty! Man, it took a while for someone to come up with that. Ive been trying to find out this info for ages now (:
I dont mean to ask a dumb question, but...
Give us an budget and we can work out a nice sounding system for the price. Each channel basically means one speaker. So a two channel amp can do two speakers (i.e. left and right). A four channel amp will do 4 speakers (i.e. front left, front right, rear left, rear right). Sometimes you can...
Hey night.icon...
If those Utopia 3-ways are what youre running... nice splits, by the way (:
But...
Are we talking about factory holes here? Because those Utopia 3-ways cant go completely in factory holes. Im only interested in installing speakers in the factory holes, with spacers...
Hi Dave16v and night.icon
Dave16v:
Ummm... are you sure about that? Alpine doesnt have any info about those speakers anymore so I cant check. Are you sure theyre 4.5" deep? Thats about 11.5cm... theyre some seriously deep speakers. That doesnt sound right to me - are you sure youre not...
Whats the deepest speaker that you can fit behind the factory door card without cutting metal?
I dont mind using spacer rings and that kind of thing, or cutting plastic, but I dont want to build pods if I can avoid it.
The deepest speaker Ive seen anyone mention was 5.1cm... anyone beat...
