I love the way 172 cup owners always have to state the fact that they own a cup. It's like the cups are completely different cars to the other RSs, and the problems they suffer are unique :clown:
They all do this, it's the engine mounts. Although I managed to fix mine by undoing the top...
Got mine changed at 48k (car was five years old), the belt was still in good condition, but it's best not to risk it.
Got mine done for £250, Renault wanted £420, jokers.
I stripped 45kg out of my clio once (all out the back). Didn't make any difference in speed, just made the road noise, exhaust and rattles louder!
It also made the handling worse, I didn't have the confidence to push as hard as usual in corners as the back end felt so light.
As has been said, it's just the metal contracting in the exhaust as it cools down.
Mine has always done it, even when my old exhaust fell off and had a new one on, still the same. It's completely normal, absolutely nothing to worry about.
Mine's a 2000 X reg, done 52k miles.
Gear knob is in perfect condition looks new, seats are pretty good, although the alcantara on the drivers seats is a little worn, leather seems fine. The steering wheel is in quite a state :dapprove: And the silver drivers side switch surround isn't...
My car wouldn't start the other night, had to get the AA man out. My crank sensor (think it's the same thing as the TDC sensor other members are talking about? The one near the flywheel) was covered in dust and this stopped it working. Gave it a clean and my engine started first time instantly...
Well, you posted this yesterday so your car is probably fixed now, but mine wouldn't start on Friday evening, left me stranded at a petrol station!!
It was turning over, the immobiliser light had gone out, so it wasn't that, but it just wouldn't start.
Called AA man, he got it started in...
Standard suspension from Renault, how much? (Talking all four springs and shocks here).
If it's too expensive I might just go for some aftermarket suspension, any recommendations? (for a phase 1 172).
I think my suspension is completely fooooked now. At least I hope it's my suspension and...
^^^ I agree, they are too tall, but so are all superminis these days.
I do like how wide Renault have made them though, and dispite being tall, they still look great imo.
Mine didn't come with any mats either, person who owned the car before me must have nicked them.
Renault wanted £150 for some RenaultSport mats... fooook that.
Bought some mats with "clio" on instead for about £25.
Well the 182s have been worked out with 180bhp.
The 172 cup is 170bhp and weighs 1021kg (89kg lighter than the 1110kg FF phase 2).
170/1021 * 1000 = 166.5 bhp/ton. (I'll even round it up to 167 bhp/ton for you ;))
Sorry for being "giddy" :(
Well I agree about the build and all-round quality, but speed, power and handling is in a different league? Put down the crack pipe man! They're pretty damn equal in that respect.
You can get killed walking to the shop, doesn't mean I don't go outside :rasp:
Get a RS clio if you can afford it, go for it. Although according to people on here, you'll end up in a hedge and then lose license for having too many points.
So beware :clown:
None of them are noticeably faster than any other.
Just depends on whether you want a more raw driving experience, or a slightly more luxurious experience with some toys to play with.
