Applies to every single car on sale today yes. :rasp:
Quoted engine power (e.g. 240ps for Astra VXR, 225ps for Audi TT, 150ps for fiesta ST etc) is always the power made at the flywheel.
Power is lost between the flywheel and the wheels in the transmission, which for your average FWD car...
Insurance seems a bit high, but not too bad I guess. Depends a lot on what your post code is.
What you paid for the car is shocking though, massively overpriced IMO.
Re: Brought a car then sold the car - How much have you lost?
Fiesta - bought for £3,300, sold 1.5 years later for £2,500. Loss of £800.
Clio - bought for £6,000, sold 3.5 years later for £3,200. Loss of £2,800.
Nothing too painful I guess.
I owned a ph1 172 for over 3 years and plenty could touch it. lol They aren't that fast. :dapprove:
And in these clios, the real action starts at 5k rpm. It's not the VVT but just where the engine hits it's sweet spot. Probably down to dodgy mapping.
In a drag race from a standing start I reckon they'll perform equally.
However any 'in gear' races, e.g. 30-50 in 4th, 40-60 in 5th etc, the turbo will win.
IMO.
Yeah, 1.6 8v with 94bhp. Awful. My gf's sister has one, great little car if I'm being honest but the engine ruins everything. Crap power, crap mpg (25mpg average) and tax will be £260 next March. Excellent mid range torque though.
Then again Ford's 1.6 16v engine (as in the current...
They've made 6th gear slightly longer in the newer 197s yes. However it's still shorter than the 182's 5th.
There are plenty of good things going for the 197, but pounding the motorway isn't one of them.
The 197's 6th gear is even shorter than the 182's 5th - it's no good on the motorway if you want to keep revs down.
Not the car to buy if you're worried about revs on the motorway IMO. Not what it's designed for at all.
My car decided to run on 3 cylinders once (spark plug died), was awful. A guy towing a caravan overtook me and I couldn't do anything to stop him!
Simple fix though, just swapped the spark plug for a new one and all was good again.
1035kg is phase 1 kerb weight (according to Renault), the phase 2 172 is 1110kg (again, Renault's figure).
The 182 is 20kg lighter than the 172 (phase 2) due to the missing spare wheel, as you said.
I typed that months ago. lol
I still stand by the n/a - turbo comment but I've changed my mind about Renaults. They may be full of faults and fall to bits, but you can't really beat them when it comes to performance/spec/age per £££. So I would have another!
Phase 1 official kerb weight is 1035kg, but like with about 95% of all other cars, the actual, real world weight is slightly more than this. Like the 1080kg the guy above said ^^^.
The ph1 172 stands out from the rest of the ph1 range, the ph2 172 doesn't as much - it looks like a 1.2 until you're right up close.
Although saying that, and despite being a ph1 owner, I do prefer the looks of the ph2 overall. Ph1 is looking very dated now (well so is the ph2 IMO but it's...
