    Knocking - when taking foot off the gas in 1st and 2nd gear.

    Ooooo, old post. Is this knocking on lift-off the same one as when you floor it in 1st gear and it sounds like something is banging? I remember mine used to bang when both flooring it in first and lifting-off in 1st/2nd. If so, it can be fixed quickly and easily.

    £8k?? :S I saw a 2004 '04' plate 182 with fsh, cup packs etc. Up for £6,999 at a car supermarket a couple of weeks ago. Not that many more miles than this one either, it'd done 35k.

    197 would beat both the 120i and the 120d IMO, with the 120d putting up more of a challenge.

    Best gear changes for the situation...

    They do have VVT, but it isn't what causes the slight power increase at 5k rpm. VVT kicks in at 1.5k and deactivates at about 6.8k IIRC. Helps with low down torque and idle or something. And rev higher than 5.5k, change gear at about 6.7-6.8k.

    Ph1 172 engine whining

    As said, it's an idler bearing thingy lol. Happened to my clio, the part itself costs about £40-£50 but it's going to cost a fair bit in labour as it's an engine out job. *Edit* Found the receipt for my bearing, £53.87 for the part. That was a year ago though.

    I can't remember the last time I used super unleaded in mine, cheapo normal petrol from Waitrose works just fine. :cool: Always makes me laugh when some people think their clio is going to break unless it gets a strict diet of V-power all the time. lol

    RR figures aren't accurate and don't really mean much. As long as it performs on the road as well as it should, then that's the important thing.

    FWD losses are roughly 18%. 25% is more like 4WD losses I think! Another thing to consider in this thread is RR inaccuracy.

    I bought my car without any tax, had ran out about a week earlier. The dealer I bought it off gave me the money for 6 months tax though lol. Had to go and tax it myself.

    Fuel isn't quite that heavy. The spare wheel and tool kit weigh about 20kg together.

    I've only driven one once but I thought the driving position was much better than the 1*2's. Seats are better too IMO (standard seats).
