The gear nob twists off, its a .35 thread and they are glued on, I have posted the proces on Dr Bs original request. You basically move the stick cover up, remove the wine shift split cotter pin, moul grips round the shaft (use cardboard as to not damage the shaft), rather large pair of...
Thats what you pay the extra for....their pension, only joking. At least with a dealer you have someone to go back to. Plus the imports take ages to arrive, I have mate who waited 2 months over for a pug, yep saved him 2k, but is it worth the wait.....
You get better results with an external aerial, the reason being is that the screen on the 172s are coated with Anti-UV, Ive ordered one but am using the un coated bit of screen just above the gear advisor sticker, move it so it uses about half the aerial then you can still get the signals from...

There are a few issues with it, but if you follow the rules on the back of the bottle you should have not problems, Ive been using slick 50 for the last 8 years after my sump plug poped out at just above the legal speed limit and I trashed 2 out of the 6 pots on a Sierra 4x4 and never had a problem.
The car’s possessed or something, mines the same, except Ive tried suspension units, bushes, wheel bearings and the next phase in the lobotomised heads of the local Reggie dealer are - wait fot it..... Anti-roll bar bushes. Ill post if it goes, although when I originally went in 5 months ago...
