    spedo problemo

Its an electronic speedo driven by a transducer where the original cable type would PLUG into the gearbox. Check the connections to the transducer to make sure they are in good condition. Sometimes just by unplugging/plugging in the connector will cure this problem. Hope that helps. Bob RTE

    air con

The air con is passive and does not affect performance or fuel economy until switched on. If you dont use it then whats your problem? Far too expensive to have it removed. This must be the first time ever that I have heard someone requesting the REMOVAL of Air con!!!!! Bob RTE

    oil temp gauge sticking

The oil gauge is electronically controlled, therefore when the ignition is turned off the gauge should return to zero. If the gauge is sticking (mechanical gauge) then I suspect the gauge is the faulty part not the switch. Also, if you BANG the dash and it returns, you have just confirmed your...

    Fan belt need replacing already!!!!

Belts rely on grip, so spraying with a lubricant will reduce the noise because its not working! Belts do squeal on occaisions, especially when cold/damp. Not really a problem unless its happening ALL the time. They must also be correctly adjusted when replaced! Hope that helps. Bob RTE

If anyone works for renault do you know..

Hi Paul G If you have to take your car to a Renault dealer to have some sort of diagnosis performed, it is not alway necessary to road test it, but in the main, yes, we will have to perform a road test at some stage. Even after a service the technician may road test the car and it may be road...

    Trade in price for Imports

As I said in an earlier post, you cant have your cake and eat it. You either buy an import at a cheaper rate and therefore your PX value will be less or you buy a UK spec car at full price and get a better risidual PX value. The choice is yours. At the end of the day, they both will probally...

    Engine help.

Dead easy to tell. Does it have a CHOKE lever situated on the dash to the right of the steering wheel? IF SO, NO ECU NO CAT. No choke lever means monopoint injection with cat. Hope that helps. Bob RTE

    sticking no plates on

Nick - go stand in the corner in disgrace! Fancy telling ppl how to break the law. I love it! Never thought of that - but its not true. If you have SMALL plates you could produce a legal set and put them on, possibly without being charged, but if you were to have false plates - you could get...

As a biker riding a Kwak ZX6R, I dont think Im the dogs dangly bits when it comes to riding fast. I went to Sainsburys today and bought a pound of fillet steak. I then went to Tescos and found it was cheaper. I then went to the market and bought 2 pounds of fillet steak for the same price as Tescos but it wasnt that good! Just me being sarcastic and having a bit of fun (:-) OK back...

    Serviceing costs/Dealership differences

The times for doing any job on any Renault are set by Renault. The prices of the parts (RRP) are set by Renault. However, they have no control over labour rates and its down to the individual dealer to set the labour rate. This is calculated on many factors. Size/location/overheads etc...

    sticking no plates on

Why not just use the pre-drilled holes in the tailgate and front bumper. Then use a pop rivit gun to fix them in place. You can still use the colour coded caps, white, yellow, black to cover the rivits. Simple. Thats what I do. Bob RTE

    Trade in price for Imports

Surely you cant expect a dealer to give you top dosh for your import! They DO know its an import and that you paid less for it. You cant have your cake and eat it! Sell it privately if you dont get a reasonable offer from your dealer! Sound advice I think! Bob RTE

T.Ferrino The car really needs to be on a 2 post lift. I would say it is IMPOSSIBLE to do it with a trolley jack on the floor. The Renault time for fitting the rear silencer is 1 hour. How long have you struggled trying to fit it? Bob RTE

    MOT Fail

It depends on why it failed the emmisions test. Specifically, what did it fail for? CO too high Lambda too high/low HCs too high. The CO must be less than 0.3% Lambda should read 1.0 or between 0.097 - 1.030 HCs no more than 200 ppm O2 should be less than 0.5% but it will not...
