It will be a broken spring. Easy to fix and cheap as well. The spring fits between the base of the gear LEVER and the body. Dead easy to do if you dont mind crawling under your Clio at this time of year!

I really think ppl are over reacting to this CONDENSATION in the oil filler cap. If the head gasket had gone there would be more obvious signs than just a bit of yellow goo in the cap. Get it checked out but I think you will all be told its condensation. Bob

It will be on a silver plate attached to the gearbox by one of the bolts holding it to the engine. Its normally but not always near the starter motor side. It should read something like:- JB3 013 C0123456 Hope that helps Bob
