Dont think I need to go into any more detail than in the other thread, back to back results etc they are what they are here's the printout for you to argue over ;)
posted these a zillion times but any excuse ;)
This one taken by pro photographer at FCS
This is my fav one I've taken myself
Legendary pic of my 172 (I have this blown up on a print in the house)
Daft selling your car for financial reasons. If you looking for something with 150 bhp to replace it your insurance will be similar so whats the benefit in selling? Your better off keeping it then depreciation isnt an issue
Same tuning guys that did my 225, Watch out for them one the 172/182 scene as well. I'll let the drivers of the cars speak for themselves but proving results on the same dyno back to back on the same day is as near to indesputable figures as you can get. Dont see any other tuners doing that sort...
the extra seats in the scenic must cume in handy ;) Madness trading a cup in IMO why do people get this 4x4/mpv mentality just beacuse they have kids? I would keep the cup and spend 2 grand on the kids. That way they get an xbox 360 for christmas and have the coolest dad in playschool.
It was either aa trophy or cup that did the lap "half a second faster" than the VXR as clarkson said on the astra VXR's lap when it was featured with the golf gti and meg. They had a trophy on the film but a cup in the studio so dont know which it was that posted the time. The original 225 did...
well we're all familiar with renault build quality, they broke a clio v6 as well didnt they? Still faster and thats all that counts (on this forum anyway usually) ;)
just have to mention at this point the car you cant see on there is the "lardy, heavy, doesnt handle" megane 225 which did it in on 1.32.5 lol 1.5 secs behind a 911 turbo. no further questions your honour hehe ;)
ST looked good though didnt it, very composed and a big hatch doing the french...
esp only came in during 2003 I think. My old 172 on a 03 plate was one of the first ones with it I think. Previous to that the 172 had no esp or traction control as far as I know
thats my point m8, the 225 fills that gap between hot hatch and having something daft like a scooby. The time comes for all of us when we get a bit old to have a hot hatch as a main car (kids/dogs etc lol)
oh god dont get them started on that!
Horses for courses at the end of the day, I think my 225 holds the road a lot better than my full fat 172, its sure as hell has a lot more grip but less chuckability factor. The trophy is a different beasst to the normal megane and that would give a cup a...
Which when you consider the meganes disadvantage on take off and the fact its hauling an extra 300kgs to a halt under braking demonstrates my point that once moving and not having to deal with traction the megane is a fair bit quicker. Okay maybe 10 car lengths was a bit of an exageration but 5...
I'm not saying anything more on this thread as it always just turns into a slanging match on here when anyone suggests that something might be quicker than clio. All I can say is that my 225 is a lot quicker than my 172, and no obviously we're not talking a spec on the horizon but 20 to 90 say I...
Once rolling a meg 225 is a fair bit quicker than a 172, I think the book 0-60 is a shade quicker but as Omar pointed out traction at low speed is a struggle especially with the roads as they are now. If you had both cars say coming off a roundabout at 20 and floored it I think you'd be...
on the subject of prizes or competition angle are we not forgetting what the point of this is? Its not to win anything its to raisesome money for charity! I dont think prizes are appropriate and it looks like having them would add to the complicatedness of organising it?
abs is neither here nor there when its icy your still gonna slide if you going too quick! In fact ABS in a clio is probably niether here nor there, I had my ABS kick in prolly twice in two years of ownership
I agree this post is pretty gay. Why do you need to make any preperations for winter in a mainstream hatchback car? Skinny 15s to give you even less grip? Top idea!
Just drive according to conditions?? My biggest worry over the winter is keeping the bugger clean!
steering on my 172 was sublime, one of the things I miss having the over assisted megane 225, but it was VERY twitchy at speed and nose heavy which is something I dont miss. A great car for zipping about on country lanes but I never felt safe doing serious speed in it, the back end seemed like...
maybe if the hotels etc are kept to cliosport then make a plan of the route and times then invite other clubs etc to join the cliosport convoy from say Leeds to Northampton, cuts down on organisation, if people want to make their own arrangements at other hotels etc they can
already got 4 or 5 meganes intrested in this as for the hotel problem there only need to be one stopover doesnt there? Failing that lets get hardcore and make it part of the challenge to sleep in the cars!
