I've seen 04 plates on 172s and 182s. I'd imagne the 04s for 172 were ones registered late that had been sat at dealerships.
Wasn't there a 53 reg 182 somewhere????
So you've managed to get ya car scrapped for free!! haha nice one. Saves you the hassle and you get get a big of cash in your pocket from selling the bits and pieces off it.
DVLA can be a bunch of c*nts sometimes!! lol
Ooops!! Perhaps a saw isn't the idea then.
I'll have a go with a hairdryer and some persistence!! lol Gotta find a gear knob that she wants first I guess.
...my missus wants to replace the standard gear knob on her 182 Cup (05 reg).
How do you get the damn things off?? Are they glued on?
Do they just need some serious twisting?
Any Megane 225 or the 230 is gonna be a winner. For motorway cruising its ideal, drop it into 6th and you'll be hitting 3000rpm at 75.
Also the amount of torque its got makes it ideal for a rolling blast. 0-60 isn't that different from the RS Clios but test drive a Megane and you'll see feel...
Simple fact is that colder air is more dense, more dense means more Oxygen to burn, better combustion and therefore the engine responds better to cold air.
Otherwise, why would people and manufacturers go to lengths to get cold air from the front of the car rather than just sticking the air...
Would look kinda cool if you get the wheels refurbished in gloss black, I think having the GTT wheels is quite a smart touch.
I'd keep it looking similar to how it is but just smarten it up and getting it looking showroom condition. :D :D
I found the whole Top Gear thing about the Astra VXR/Golf GTi/Megane 225 Cup a bit of a let down.
He went on about how good the Golf is, which I'm sure it is. Said all sorts about the Astra then the Megane hardly got a mention!?!?! Then right at the end said that it drag the Astra was first...
My 172 came with a spare 17" alloy, none of that space saver rubbish.
At least you've got a spare, my 225 and the missus 182 don't even have a spare, just cans of foam!! lol
I think Clarkson is quality but I do take his opinions very lightly.
When he reviewed the 182 he mocked it then praised it. Sometimes it makes you wonder if he's totally detatched from what normal cars are about bearing in mind he drives the worlds best cars and owns a handful of them as...
Don't think the fuel being left for a couple of days would make it go particularly stale, not to any degree that you'll notice it.
But the whole RON thing does make a difference, the Megane 225s actually respond quite poorly with anything less thant 97RON in em, lumpy idle and going into...
If it relates to the residual prices of the Clio 197, lets face it, its gonna be as bleak as all the other RenaultSport models.
Imagine paying the full £20k asking price for a Megane 225 then realising that you can get em new for £15k??? Same applies to paying £17k for a Clio 197!!!! They'll...
If you think about it, even now the Willams and Valvers haven't become chav mobiles, even though they are relatively cheap to buy. No reason why the 172/182 should go down a different path!!!
I see chavved up 1.2/1.4 hatches every day, not just Clios with the smaller engines but...
The only thing you can take some consolation in, is that cheapo chav scum can't afford the insurance on an RS Clio!!!! Thankfully haven't come accross any myself.
On the other hand, the 1.2 Clios could easily be, but then again there is no reason for it to be a chav mobile than any other...
The word I would use to describe most of these cars is 'stupid'!!
They are stupid coz you can't drive em, stupid stupid stupid.
The black one actually looks ok but get the hydraulics high enough to drive it and its gonna look crap!! lol
Cue - you got a point there!! Gotta take a guess at the kind of use and abuse the car may have had.
If you can see that a car has been looked after and cared for, its likely to be a better buy than a car which has been ragged and is a bit battered, whether its lower mileage or not.
Try...
Best thing to do mate is just buy the lowest mileage 182 you can find.
Its the mileage which wears the car out so an 04 plate with 5000 miles would be effectively 'newer' than a 55 plate with 20,000 miles on it. IMO :D
People don't often think about it but there are rarer models than your you normal Clio 172 and 182s.
I don't know how many 1.6 Dynamiques there were but as far as I knew there were only about 50 Megane 225 Cups sold (not 225 with cup packs). Came in the same colour as the Trophy. Just...
To be honest, a 1.2 8v will have about 65bhp, a 1.2 16v would probably have 70-75bhp I'd imagine.
On the road with such a small engine you'd hardly notice a difference but if he's put big wheels on his to fill his spanking bodykit then that might slow it down!!
A lot of people on here won't...
Or it would appeal to the kind of people who wet themselves coz a car has a 2.0ltr engine in it!! lol
The number of people who are like 'Wow a Clio with a 2.0ltr engine!' but not grasping the fact thats its the 172/182/197 bhp its making which is the impressive bit.
Looks like quite an interesting car but to be honest I'm not keen on that new Clio, especially the price, £12.5k is what I paid for my old Clio 172!!
The RS Twingo sounds like an interesting idea but it will be designed to fit into a certain price/performance bracket so it won't compete with...
The number of miles you do makes quite a difference on the insurance.
The only thing is that a lot of the time insurers don't ask what you mileage is. My Megane 225 and Renault 5 are both insured for 4000 miles a year each.
Although the Megane was on 0 miles as was bought from new, they...
If you've got the cash you can insure anything!!
Mate of mine got lucky, ended up being paid a hell of a lot of money with a car allowance so went and got a £30,000 Saab convertible, 2.0ltr turbo. He was 19 or 20 at the time.
Cost him £9000 a year to insure it!!! Even for the amount he...
Definitely take it back mate, door looks totally different in that first pic!!
Someone scraped my missus car and she paid for it to be sprayed. Got it back and you could see they hadn't blended the resprayed bit properly. (Racing blue) We took it back and they just re-did it.
In that...
My mum's Focus had a leak that every time it rained the footwell filled up on the passenger side.
In the end she just traded it in and got a SportKa so my post is actually pretty pointless!! :(
