    Can A F4R Be Converted...

Yes it could and conversion from belts to chains was common practice in the super touring era where belt stretch compromised valve timing accuracy. These chain drives were primarily for accuracy though so weren't engineered to avoid change intervals and for the most part would have less service...

    Rear Mounted Turbos

It was 'my lot' who designed, developed and engineered it rather than me - I'm not that old LOL .Fred will get the pun ;-) That system is pretty basic compared to what we do these days. Boost control on the F2 cars for example is way more advanced, as is our closed loop gear control stuff oh...

    Rear Mounted Turbos

Exactly that. Anti-lag meant they had turbo speed for much more 'time' than they required to produce steady state peak inducted air mass requirement (for want of a better term). As such they wouldn't waste the energy but use it to compress air mass into a storage tank which was then released...

    Fast road cams-advice needed

Quite right it's not how far it lifts it that matters, its when it lifts it and how long it holds it there. I think Daz is on about restricting the map sensor feed or running a secondary map sensor plenum as a signal damper. It's a load sensor afterall so you want its output to be...

Power gains from removing power steering?

Most certainly is! We either interface with the ePAS controller via CAN or we could drive the ePAS directly if it were ever required. We work closely with DC and their ePAS setup is very, very good. We can even have driver specific cals on SQ6 so everything from throttle response to steering...

limiting at 6k revs even when warmed up

The ECU has lost vehicle speed input then, or rather more accurately one of the driven wheel speed sensors which the ABS and TCS also rely on to operate. Cheers M

Power gains from removing power steering?

The solution to that is ePAS, where current is only drawn when a steering angle is applied. As such it draws zero power bar what is required to run the ePAS ECU when it is 'idle'. It also tends to be lighter and you can do very trick stuff such as fully speed and load sensitive assistance. In a...

    brake disc stuck

Just hammer it. If its absolutely proper stuck angle grind a 1" slit into it and smack a cold chissel down it. The disc will split all the way across the hub then just lift off. Cheers M

Power gains from removing power steering?

If you let me know what injectors you're using I can probably dig out a comp table that'll be 99% correct........ which is a vast improvement on 'might be' ;-) Cheers M

Power gains from removing power steering?

Have you got any battery compensation at all? If not your fueling will be all over the shop as the electrical loads vary (i.e. lights and blowers on). It really is extremely important to get it correct! Cheers M

Power gains from removing power steering?

Spark will be more than sufficent with 12V to light the mixture off and ECU (unless its a poorly mapped aftermarket) has battery compensation to ensure accurately metered injection events under varying electrical load. Alternator disconnect is common practice on competition cars, including...

We're all rather hoping you come to the next one as well Tony. Another test day on the Friday so some more laps for you if you fancy it? Engine doesn't appear to have dropped a valve so with a bit of luck its fixable. Might be time to R3 spec it! :-) Cheers M

    is that belt right?

I used to run them 'wrong' on the old cup cars as there was less chance of the belt picking up gravel and shredding that way as there was no lower belt run. Just go down a rib size to avoid rubbing. Cheers M

Power gains from removing power steering?

7bhp maybe with the rack on full load and the pump working hard. Thing is when you're going in a straight line all you're dealing with are the parasitic loads of moving fluid through the system, it's not actualy doing any 'work' as such. 1 to 2 bhp maybe at a push. Get more just rigging up an...

How's the reliability on the Exige these days? I noticed you boys seem to be out and lapping a lot more than previously? This was our first ever race failure with an X85, a real shame but these things happen and it was realisticaly unavoidable. Cheers M

What a busy weekend!!! We got the car out on Sunday setup properly and with a good chance of taking a first in class as the S2000 had retired and we suspected the Accord may well break down. Unfortunately the lower pulley had other ideas. It had taken a lot of damage in Saturdays off and...

Cold air feed came off... Car running better??

Corragated hose is absolutely rubbish for air flow. It's okay for brake cooling but thats about it. You'd be better off just using it to supply ambient temperature air to the area around the airbox rather than restricting the airbox by nailing it onto the airbox intake. Cheers M
