Looks a good project hope to see it up the Hill at some point this year.
I would think your more likely to see 4/5 bhp max from the body and flowed inlet not 10, I would get the fuelling checked to be safe as mine went lean in the midrange after i ported my old inlet.
Re: Road/Track 172
Yeh more happy that the engine looks to be performing as it should as it's the first high comp build I have done, I'm not overly fussed about the top line figures but I'm happy with the gains when overlaid on my old graph.
the shift is brilliant but i now see what people mean about the rattle, i think its the reverse lift spring so i might take the knob off and put a bit tape around the spring so its not metal to metal.
Re: Road/Track 172
In the mid range we went safe with timing which has caused a dip in the torque , on the road this isn't nearly as bad as the graph would suggest . I actually wanted it left like this just now to aid traction out of corners until I get a diff.
Re: Road/Track 172
Im out for the 1st then but think there is a OP day on the 8 th of March. I really need to get some tyres for the speed lines aswell, but do have some track tyres on my other wheels that will last a day.
Re: Road/Track 172
Last time it made 214 on the same rollers, god i hate NA tuning
Ive not got the 4th booked but I will be up for it , is it a Knockhill or private day ? Im off to Houston on sunday until the 1st, so might be tight for getting the alignment done and have a small oil leak...
Re: Road/Track 172
Mapping went well today peak power we seen was 230.1 bhp ,but after pulling a little timing for safety we ended up with 228.9 bhp and 176.9 ftlb . We tried upping the rev limit to 7800 rpm but made no more power so capped it at 7500 since I'm still on standard rods.
Re: Road/Track 172
Not justnow Gaz as I need to check to see what the ideal offset is when running these hubs, it was fine before but I think it's now 5mm wider per side.
Re: Road/Track 172
It's a sparco rear brace for an escort cosworth, I had it lying for years so just drilled and tapped the top mounts as it was a perfect length.
Re: Road/Track 172
Yes that's what I was thinking plus I don't like the idea of trying to keep white wheels clean with track pads. I'm running 16mm spacers on the front and 15 on the rear but might have to remove the fronts now I've got the roll centre hubs.
Got out my gauges fitted where the...
Re: Road/Track 172
Not sure if I should keep the speedlines white or do them black , I've ordered some new blue stickers as they will need a refurb either way.
Ive now now got the car back on its wheels and gave it it's first wash in 6 months , just need to sort out the shifter as having...
Re: Road/Track 172
I'm going to be working away a lot over the next couple of months, but if I can get it mapped and sorted in time I would like to get out in March to the open pit day.
im just going to be using itfor trackdays but may try a round of SLS later in the year if the car qualifies.
