ICEman: Do you think the seperate 4ch 500 and class D amp is the way to go or the 5ch DEI 650 at £249. I have posted on an audio board elsewhere and they say go with the 500 only...2 for the front and bridge 2 for the sub. Surely I would get better sub performance from a dedicated class D...

I want to build my own box so as to use the space in the left of the boot but as most of you know its an odd shape. If I made an odd shaped box would it work as long as the volume (space in side) was OK for the sub. Also would an arse out sub work on any box, seems a shame to hide a nicely...

Get around 600 to a tank.....its a Vectra diesel tho..LOL! Was getting about 35 to the gallon from the 172, running in tho, until the gearbox went tits up after 685miles so for the last 2 weeks its be sitting in the dealer carpark waiting for a new one

I spoke to Alpines technical department today and they told me that it wont work with anything else as Manufacturers try to keep you tied into their parts. They did say about a company that do interfaces, In Car Developments, so I contacted them too but they only do the link the way.

Nothing....they werent even interested in any alarm, just as long as it was immobilised. Even asked about a Tracker.....same answer. I think alarms are just for peace of mind.

Every ice dealer ive spoken to has said the same, that it only works with OEM heads, I know they are all into new business but can they all be wrong. I spoke to cel-direct.co.uk and was going to amp everything and replace speakers and stuff and spend £6-700 on kit to make the OEM setup better...

Yes it is an Alpine made changer but will ony work with the head unit that comes in the 172. I was told by cel-direct.com ( they advertise in all the mags) that there is a lead that can connect Sony aftermarket units so as BOTH the display and steering controls work, might be woth looking into.

Auto acoustics do a "StealthBox". Its moulded fibreglass but it fits snuggly into the side of the boot filling up those in accessable bits...Costs £140+ though. Thinking of making my own too but as has been said before get your sub so you know how big the box needs to be!

Did you put the same model both back and front? and do you plan to amp them in the future. Also do you think it necessary to fit a sub or is there plenty of bass. So its not that much of a nightmare....but how do you do it?

They fit Sigmas and they charge you £399 for an M4, which is a full Cat 1. I was quoted £275 for the same alarm from my local installer..... Get it done local incase you need any remedial work done. Anyway all you need is a Cat 2:1 upgrade so you can use the original key. I have a Toad A850T...
