heres the amp under the seat, fits...
I think the guy above weas talking about the rear seats !! I always dismissed the idea about mounting inder the front seat untill I had a look under there, theres plenty of vertical room under the seat (even when the seat slides back and forth), just the floor is a little bumpy, my lightning...
thanks for the pics, got my amp today, was thinking about also putting it under the seat, but it is really a small space under there, the height is fine, but you only have like 20cm in the recess and my amp will just fit in there (if you take out that plastic tray thingy) but dont think there is...
any one made a side panel for th passenger side of the bboot to mount an amp or changer or whatever ? How did you mount it to the side ? I see there 2 screws the hold the plastic part wher the parcel shelf rest on to the car, could you use those holes and just longer screws, not too sure if it...
M.C. thats sounds interesting, was thinking of something like that, please post some pics if you can.
otherwise its a pive of mdf carpeted, velcrod to the boot mat in forn of the sub-box so everything is just on the 1/4 side split of the rear bench.
anyone had any experience with these, seem to be quite good value, same price as JBL GTO 10" here, what ya reackon ??

ok almost there, will start with the 10" sub and amp combo at back then upgrade comps up front, seems the whole world is in agreement with that set up for a good quality small sound set-up.
pete_172, glad you mentioned that, I cut out a template out of cardboard of the boot space that will be in front of the sub box (o the left abuot the width of the 1/4 split of the rear seat), will cut it out of mdf, carpet it and bolt the amp to it, will leave plenty boot space
no problem that...
went to another dealer today, looked at some nice JBL stuff (I had JBL speakers in my toyota before, and was happy, 4" 2-ways up fron ta and 3 way 6x9s at the back)
anyways, he recommended I first put a proper set of components up front like the JBL 5 1/4", a little pricey, like twice the...
ok, spoke to a shop here, looks like Im gonna go for a 10" sub + amp. (hopefully one with high level inputs, most seem to have this already or they got a "converter" they can fit)
Ive designed a nice small sealed box that will fit neatly and not take up too much space, question now is, what...
ok, thats good advice, but quality h/unit is too expensive (im in south africa) and soon as theres is an after market unit, someone will try steal it, I like not having to fuss with a clip off face, and the appearance is so drab that it draws no attention to it.
so how do you connect the amp...
ok, did a bit of a search, seems yu cant conneect an amp to it, should I go the 6x9 route then, had some nice jbls before with a pioneer h/unit, no amp, certainly had more "bass" (i use that term loosley) than I do now ?
what ya think ? from what Ive read before seems most here are aginst 6x9s...
Ive got the standard set up in my mk2 1.6 phase 1 *yawn*
what would you recomend for a small upgrade, please dont say head unit, thats a keeper for various reason, could I add a 10" sub powerd by a small amp ? I dont think there are pre-outs for an amp, can you connect it where the current...
was parked on the street for a good portion of friday night, was just checking some thinsg on saturday morning, when I noticed a dirty mark on the roof, so I look closer and I see its a shoe print !!
I then look around and find twho more on the bonnet and another one no the roof, could someon...
I got the same mats as the mk1 172......there are 2 holes on the drivers side mat, can I get fixing things to fit there so they dont move around, not that they move too much ? does renault keep them as a spare ? last one, how do they attach on to the floor, do you have to cust the carpet on the...
sorry guys I find this whole "report your mods" to the insurers a bit of a laugh, we have nothing like that here, no one checks the colour of your springs in a claim.
if I put a new exhaust on, I dont need to report it to the insurers, and your insurance is hella expensive compared to the...
I just found a "nice" scratch across my bonnet, about 2 days after I got it back from a service........coincidence ? its not a stone scratch from the road that for sure, looks like someone dropped the sponge and just carried on wiping the car......makes me mad.
not as mad a the 3 dents along...
well just picked up my car, no problems, they tried to get me to get new wipers, but last time I used them they were fine and they would charge a small fortune to supply and fit.
their prices are funny you know, I ask for the sport badge that goes on the boot of the 172, it R520 something...
our plates here start with CA then up to 6 numbers, a few years back my dad somehow organised my date of birth 2 digits for the year, 2 digits for the month and 1 digit for the day......
here in SA they are expensive in my opinion, major service R1690 (about 140 quid) and pads are: R790 (GBP 66) for front and R670 rear without labour !
plugs/fuel filter are included in price so that good.
not looking forward to it, first major service (gonna cost a bit) and Im cncerned about brake pads, how long was it untill you had to replace your pads ?
