ph1 engine is best imo: bigger exhaust ports and slightly higher compression (11.2:1 instead of 11:1) irc. Not much difference in between these engines. As it's going to be a competition engine and you'll rework the head/pistons anyway, it really doesn't matter.
You shouldn't be able to crush the bearings by tightening the nut sensibly. Is your car on coilovers? If so which make? I am using the same topmounts on my car with H&R's and the nut sits fully on the strut. K-tec might have fitted the slim OEM strut nut underneath the topmounts which isn't...
Depends on the radiator setup and position. But i think you can get slimmer oil filters. Shouldn't affect oil pressure or flow. Another option would be an oil temperature sensor in the sump/instead of sump plug and the pressure sensor instead of the OEM switch.
Renault wishbones come with ball joints attached. But you can't get the ball joints on their own from the dealers. Could use Lemförder ball joints, they're superb.
