When I get a chance I am going to drain, and refill will with decent stuff, until then, I reckon it was worthwhile topping up as it took 3/4 litre, and they hold a few litres, so could only help, will look up the right stuff, cheers

b****cks, was putting up with the lost power cause was going to at some point make up a cold air feed, with possibly a sealed air box surrounding the PiperX filter. Was going to do it in transparent plastic sheet, but you reckon it will still lose power.

Yep Ive got a piperX ind. kit and it is well loud although i have reservation about power gain (it might be a loss), it does whistle and when you switch the engine off, it continues to make a whine for a second or two.
Ben, what did you go for after taking you r one off, i.e. what seems to be...

Did someone mention carlube oil, I thought my valvers box was a little noisy (not excessive, but noticable on smooth roads on your own). Went to get the recommended 75/80 oil but couldnt get any locally, so bought carlube semi 75/90.

Try the likes of RS components or something like that as they stock all kinds of stuff like that, or sheet metal wholesalers, get some in stainless or aluminium and youre laughing and it will not cost as much as dedicated stuff from the likes of carno etc

Definetly recommend not reusing stretch head bolts, had many problems with Rover K-series engine (can I say Rover here) which is a similar design to a valvers (16v all alloy) and you will just end having to do it all again at some point
