    i agree fully. Most people will say X is better than Y because thats what they like. I held the 400d and hated it yet loved the nikon so obviously went against peoples suggestions

    went into jessops and had a play with the d40 and 400d....ended up walking out £300 lighter, got a d40

    been looking at them but decent ones are out of my price range. Not overly bothered about AF provding i don't have to buy AF-S len' for them to work with the d40

    i have just been reading reviews about the d40 being a bit dodgey due to lack of built in AF. Will any nikon lens still fit just have a lack of AF unless i bought one with the AF in the lens?
