Here's an odd thing, I'm picking my Trophy up on Friday now, but my other half picked the post up today, and I have a V5 from the DVLA for the Trophy with my personal plate on it! I've only paid the deposit so far, tempting...
Has this happened to anyone else? (I was originally going to pick...
I remember all 3 shows as it goes. The "cup" was a 182 full fat with cup packs and the run looked quite dry. The V6 had a sopping track and there were a few "out-takes" of the Stig producing some serious spins. The bread van had a damp track, but suffered in general with the twistiness and the...
I've got a car specific plate on my C2 GT: C2 GTU which was £250 from DVLA, and the new Trophy is getting a plate from my other half. It's hobby specific P9 MOX and was also £250. It'll mean nothing to most people, but anyone who picks up on the meaning will get a good chuckle.
Please don't...
You missed:
"When you walk in the dole, keep your head held high,
and don't be afraid of the clerk.
At the end of the queue, lies a golden form... etc etc etc"
Whenever I used to join in singing this, the reply from the South stand was usually thousands of scousers putting their arms...
Does anyone have a handy checklist for picking up a new car? Specifically one for a Trophy?
Reason is, I'm no sure what the story is with tins of tyre foam, cargo net, locking wheel nuts, etc etc etc.
Thanks in advance.
The mark III just looks like any other Euro hatch (see Pug 206 etc) and although the trim is nicer and NCAP 5 is all well and good, it just looks a little bland and weighs too much. I like the idea of the diffuser on the RS, plus the vents for cooling the brakes when you're on track days, but...
Well, after spending a good amount of the last 2 days on the phone to the regional dealer manager at Renault, they've sourced me one! Still not delighted with the dealers, and I don't think I'd have one but for obtaining the mobile number of the Renault dude, but at the end of the day, there'll...
Yeah, sadly the unreg'd one went yesterday morning and I'm not too sure about the demo. Its actually one of the demos that I drove and I know what I did to it from almost cold. If you're buying it, I'd advise getting an extended warranty thrown in on the deal, 'cos the engine's going to fall out. ;)
I second the view on Sainsburys 97 RON. Waaaaay cheaper than branded Shell and BP, and you can put the difference to additives and cleaners of your choice. Or just smoke/p*ss away the difference :)
Not shockingly, didn't get the promised callback today, despite calling dealership several times. They can tell me yes/no tomorrow and then I'll try to get out and shop around this weekend if it's a no.
I am in such a bad mood, traumas at work on top of this sh1te.
Got back from the dealers a bit ago. To answer a few questions, yes a deposit was taken and an order document signed. Legal have found a couple of possible clauses to exploit, all based round your friend and mine "reasonableness" (yes it is a real word!)
I was advised by the dealer that they...
Got the Bradford Dealership BTW. Sunwins.
LOL @ msa182, I think a vee would be pushing it a little, plus we'd have to go shopping in the other half's mkII 16v GTI :)
Thanks for all the help folks, please keep any suggestions coming, but I've got to hit the hay soon (I need to be in work...
Lots of mentions of the Megane. Anyone driven a 225/225 cup? The only one I've seen around looked a little lumbering to me...
Thanks for all the quick replies BTW :)
Any official idea when the RS is appearing? (all extra 200kg of it, imagine driving your 182 with a bit more top end, but 2 fat blokes in it)
If they try and pitch me a second hand Trophy or a full fat with Recaros and metallics (obv with cup packs) shoould I fold?
Tricky choice, I'm just...
Don't want to put too many details in order not to prejudice any legal proceedings, but my dealers called to advise that they are now unlikely to be able to source a Trophy. I got a loan and the other half bought me a personal plate too on the basis of the order I placed. Already taken...
Forget VW quality on Lupos and Polos. All bets are off. A friend of mine has just traded his Polo GTI due to a seried of problems with it. Golf/A3 and above and you're laughing (my other half is still thrashing her MkII 16v Golf GTI at pushing 200000) but the cheap cars do not get that dub...
Forgot to mention, I called Dixon motors before I went in to haggle the last few quid off at my stealership. I normally wouldnt touch them with a barge pole, but they are at least sometimes cheap. The guy I spoke to was swearing blind the only "Trophy" was the Meggy 225.
Tard.
Don't know if it'll be worth taking the hit on trade in at effectively peak depreciation time, but in terms of cash price for Trophy, you want to be looking at £13K or below. Arnold Clark were advertising their Trophys on the web for 13, but I think the ad has gone now, as they have flogged all...
Winner, that would be best of all worlds. Did you upgrade your speakers at the same time as the head?
Know what you mean about the slidy thing, I was looking at the 9855 too, but thought I'd rather have a day hacking round Donnington than have the tweakier head.
