Another one going on in Derbyshire this Saturday at Chatsworth. I'm not going, and I doubt many other people will. Think what's happening this Saturday, not good forward planning...
Already a thread open on this. BTW, I agree, dangerously close to bigger and better car money once you add the toys that used to be standard. (I had a bit of a rant about this in the other thread!)
If you pay for all the toys, you're starting to get into ST, VXR, GTI money.
The car cannot compete in terms of residuals, performance, or reliability against any of these. It's even pushing Meggy money.
My two penneth is that they've launched it too dear, and it will suffer.
OK, you...
:Sigh:
You cannot beat an Aston in the dry when it's trying. If it's wet, he might push it too far and spin, giving you a chance to get past, but that's about it. Looking on the brigt side, the Aston prolly depreciates by the value of the 182 the second it rolls off the forecourt. :)
Must admit, we do get a lot of this both from Saxo/C2 VTS's and Porsches/Beemers. Very little from similar cars like the CTR or Focus ST.
One good game you might enjoy is baiting gunslingers into giving it loads, then letting them past and allowing them to zip through known speed camera...
OK, to save searching again, it goes like this: The 182 is better through the bends, especially cup/Trophy (quite a bit better here). Honda will take it on the straight at higher speeds.
In contrast, 182 is a lot cheaper, but Honda will depreciate and rattle less.
Deciding factor is: Honda...
Was there ever an Alpine cable produced that will allow the stalk/display to work? I've had trouble finding the right one. BTW, it's to go into a Trophy, and I'm told the adaptor needed is different to the older Mk II's Is this right?
Heading towards Sheffield with a personal plate, you passed me and the other half in the Trophy. Now to rain on your parade I'm afraid, between the boot and back seats, we had a dozen cases of botted Chinese beer :) I think this constitutes a weigh penalty in BTCC ;)
Trophy with no mods (minor audio coming soon, but won't be extra) 5 years NCD, Fully Comp, NCD protected, myself and my other half to drive; SDP, commuting and class one business; No at fault claims, no points (touch wood)
£350 with Direct line. It pays to be an old git sometimes :)
They look rather nice. Never had anything with crossovers before!
Looks a good trader too. Impressive theyve managed to keep 100% positive with that many customers. Not a single moaning git (I'm just bitter because I got a neg feedback for reporting someone for selling counterfeit games...
I'm toying with getting an Alpine 9850 head (the one with the integral iPod connector lead).
What would be good speakers to pair with this. Ideally these should be a nice easy swap out (I'll be getting Halfrauds or similar to do it, as I know nothing about ICE)
May also go with the stalk...
I like the six speed box, diffuser looks interesting.
17"s, 200kg more than my Ruby, can't say I'm impressed overall at all.
I'm more concerned about the handling than the grunt. This car does not look nimble. I'll prolly try a test drive at some point, but the biggest concern is the...
reg M22***
Parked up in Tesco in Wath about 5:30 tonight. I was in the Trophy across the way, with my other half's Mk II 16v GTI next to it. Anyone here?
Cheers
Fun car is it in a nutshell. When we leave the house to go to work of a morning, my other half and I have the same tough choice each day:
a) My Trophy
b) Other half's Mk 2 16v GTI (minor mods, brake upgrade, slightly stiffer shocks, full exhaust refit, BBS alloys etc, but no godless blinginess...
Sounds about right, even less toys than the Trophy, but that is the stripped weight, so all the people that added ABS, Air con etc as options would have ended up near Trophy weight (if not a bit more with the old seats).
As we know, those people who didn't add ABS etc get to post threads about...
Full fat is heaviest 1110 iirc, then cup 1090, Trophy is a dab lighter than the cup at 1075. Don't think anything is as low as 1035 (unless you start stripping)
I say, who needs a stereo, back seats, door trims, carpet, a dash etc. :)
Did you wonder who's nearly been selling the Beemer for such a long time? ;)
Congrats again Hyb, if you're anything like me, you'll rarely be in the house the weekend after picking up anyway!
I had a car specific plate on my last car: a C2 GT with the plate C2 GTU. Straight from the DVLA, more than made my money back when I traded in.
Plate on the Trophy refers to one of my hobbies and my other half got it me as an early Christmas prezzie.
I think that plates you have to...
Yup, 2 factors here. First, despite the list price, you'll be able to get a significant discount on the Mk II. Second, the Mk III is much heavier, and you would need to be looking a a 1.4 for the same performance. I personally think the Mk III looks like any other Euro hatch and is...
Wow, what a lot of conflicting info!
Here's the actual story. All the 182's have the same 2.0 16v n/a engine with the same power 182 bhp peak (the 225 seems to be confusion with the Megane RS/cup/Trophy which has a 2.0 turbo). Slight differences in 0 - 60 are down to weight really, speed...
£12750 and better than book on my C2 GT.
Shame it's going to be so icy this weekend, but it's Karma I suppose. I ripped the sh*t out of my mate when he collected his 307cc just beore the October gales.
Ill have her run in in no time anyway...
