I didnt realise about the stocks until I'd done 4 of the 5 missions.
Luckily left the last one so got some good money on the last heist and did it with that, it bumped it up to about £23m, so plenty to play with :)
Really sounds like a wheel bearing, even though you pointed out it's been checked.
Drive along decent road at decent speed, just load up the left wheel,on and off,by turning right a little and straightening up, and repeat. Obviously check there's no traffic about ;)
If it hums as you load...
Mine keeps doing this, it gets really lumpy when sat at idle for more than about 10 seconds, when it's up to temp. The revs drop down, sometimes it catches it and others it just dies.
It never has a problem starting though, hot or cold and the crank sensor was new a couple of years ago.
The aux belt tensioner is a bit of a pig without the tool or a home made version. Some people use a big jubilee clip to compress the tensioner to get it in and the belt on then undo the clip.
Ive only done it before with the engine out so didnt have that issue, but the next one will still be in situ.
What have you removed so far? Ideally it'll need the engine mount removing which I guess you have, the manifold unbolting, so that you can move the engine about without straining it...
No worries!
I cant actually remember where or who I got it from (that pic was taken from another post) But I've got the PDF version somewhere, may have to check my external drive but it has the whole procedure start to finish. Will have a look & PM you.
Easily done! As Dan says it will slot into a balancing hole or butt against the edge of the crank (depending which way you turn it) But its easy to get right if you turn it really slow and feel the pin into the slot. This may help clarify :)
On another note, fancy selling me the tools when...
Ahh right, it looked good, very clean :)
I was actually just over the road outside washing mine and you drove past towards Hethersett.
I can't go along the "Lotus road" using conventional driving standards, so I can understand ;)
All done!!
Been doing the rack today :) Plenty of faffing about and a few choice words I'll admit ;)
Just been for a quick shake-down and it feels SO much tighter than it was (its not just a placebo effect), and responsive, how it should be!! Obviously I havent the alignment done yet, so that...
You'd think I'd have my own trolley jack but my one broke and after that I just used the one the ex had lol....haven't got round to getting another one yet but I will :)
I know how much of a pain the access is too, did the rack bushes not so long ago! Thanks for the advice regarding what space...
Ok cool :)
Only reason I ask is I dont currently have a trolley jack, only the little scissor one and some stands but it doesnt really get high enough to get under the car properly to undo the rack bolts :/ I have some ramps but then obviously cant drop the frame.
Guess I could get on the...
Not yet, still wondering if its something to do with the PAS switch. Mine will be going very soon for EPAS, so will be interesting to see whether this is the reason for mine. Will update when its done :)
Another thing I forgot to ask.....Will the old PAS rack come out without dropping the subframe? I'm sure I read somewhere, someone had done it this way. I understand it will be a PITA, but if bending and/or cutting the old pipes, will it physically fit through the gap?
Finally got round to making a start on the EPAS conversion today. I've got the column fitted and all the wiring done :)
Not done the rack yet, but will do it this week. Driving with full assistance AND the hydraulic rack still plumbed in is a bit strange, the steering is ridiculously light lol...
That's what I thought....and the end of the day its just a motor so I can't see how it can be coded to an Ecu. Like you say Phil, most of the signals are faked too. I'll try this other Ecu and report back when I get round to it :)
Does anyone have a definitive answer as to whether any steering column ecu will work with my column? From the same model Clio obviously....the place where a bought it from on eBay said they'd supply it but it didn't come with it.
So I got on the phone trying to explain that the grey box under...
Just read on another thread about the PAS pressure switch and how it "demands" a few more revs when under heavy load. Could this be related as mine is broken completely as far as the electrical side is concerned. (but I'm going EPAS very soon) :)
Sorry, its a Ph2 172 ;)
The plugs and leads arent that old, and Im 99% sure the crank sensor was changed along with that small bit of loom a couple of years back when the engine was fitted. Its the blue one above the flywheel isnt it?
For the past few weeks when up to temp (but not always) and idling at some traffic lights etc it drops quite low, sometimes so its only JUST hanging on and sometimes it'll just cut out.
It also does it worse when manouvering at low speed which I guess is the extra load the PAS system is...
Tbh, no Its not solved!
The only thing left is the rack itself (it did use to click and creak at low speed) , so will be doing the EPAS conversion at the same time very soon ;)
