Blue Cup 172 passed me going towards Norwich this afternoon at about 1pm, literally 20 seconds later a trophy went past in the same direction.
Anyone on here?
Just recently my accelerator pedal has started squeeking, when I am depressing and releasing the pedal (for instance on gear changes) there is a squeeking sound and something else which sounds like air escaping.
Anybody experienced this before?
Right guys, since the weather has turned cold my Cup has started to run a little colder. Should the car be getting up to temp regardless of the ambient temperature? Obviously I am worried about the temperature of my oil and its' ability to protect my engine.
It is running basically a bar...
Check it out guys. Jetta VR6 turbo from Schimmel Performance in the States.
One day I WILL put a turbocharged VR6 into my MK2 Golf GTI

Saw a silver 51 plate 172 at the Eaton crossroad junction about 5 minutes ago. Had some quite large multispoke alloys on it and an aftermarket exhaust.
When in reverse, as I pull away I am getting a slight knocking which seems to be coming from the engine bay area directly in front of the passenger footwell/glove box.
Any ideas what this could be? I'm hoping an engine mount and not my gearbox on its last legs.
Are these worth the money? My standard exhaust is about to fall off, and I'm down on the south coast in a couple of weeks and strongly considering one of these.
Are these the correct Eibach Sportlines for a 172 Cup? I was searching and thought the price was quite reasonable!

I was behind you yesterday evening down Ipswich Road into the city. You turned left at the St Stephens roundabout onto Chapelfield. Had an aftermarket twin exhaust exiting underneath the bumper.
Anyone?
How many engine cooling fan speeds does the Clio 172 Cup have? I've just been looking at the engine bay of a 172 FF and it seems to have some differences such as an extra switch and 3 wire relay pack/sensor on the radiator which my Cup is missing.
The rims on my Cup alloys appear to be slightly pitted/corroded.
It is very strange, as the corrosion stops in exactly the same place on all the spokes, almost like there is a barrier on the wheels. Is this a known problem, was was the paint around the rims poor/faulty resulting in the...
Guys, need some help quickly.
Does the 172 Cup have 2 fan speeds?
How many wires should the temperature sensor on the side of the head have? Mine seems to have two, one grey and one purple.
Is there any way to test the coolant switch/rad switch on a 172 or is it done from the ECU?
There is a black/grey strip of something which resembles polystyrene in the rear bumper of my 172 Cup. It is held from the inside of the bumper with some fixing clips, some of them are missing which is resulting in movement of the strip.
Does anyone know the part number or have any of these...
Yes I know it is August, but can anyone recommend a decent set of winter tyres I can stick on my 172 Cup (and preferably, some alternative winter wheels I can fit over the really poor months).
Cheers
Hi All. I've just been having a look under my 172 Cup. The front brake rotors have ABS rings present but obviously the car (being a cup) doesn't have ABS. Has it had incorrect discs fitted?
Hi chaps. Quick question which I'm pretty sure on but want some clarification from the pros! Will the R5GTT gearbox bolt up to a Clio 16v without any issues?
Thanks and Merry Christmas :clown: :rasp:
Hi folks. I'm new to the forum but have been very impressed by what I have seen/read so far.
Can anyone recommend a decent shop, online or offline, to buy bearings (main and rods) for an F7P rebuild? Don't want to go to Ktec or BB.
Cheers!
