172 Cup Front Discs

Car  2016 Audi RS3
Hi All. I've just been having a look under my 172 Cup. The front brake rotors have ABS rings present but obviously the car (being a cup) doesn't have ABS. Has it had incorrect discs fitted?

There not abs teeth the front abs teeth are on the driveshfat only the rear has the rings as part of the disk the Cups have the rings there (they are removable at the back disk) but they don't need them.

The brakes seems to be fine. So should the car have these teeth at the front? Whether they be on the driveshaft or discs?

I think my rears still have the abs rings, mark mentioned somthing about it last time it was in the workshop.

Not checked on my fronts though, the brakes work well which suits me fine.

As i said earlier the fronts don't have teeth they look like they but there not the abs teeth for the front on the abs cars are on the driveshaft.

The rears since they use the same parts have the teeth rings in the disk they can be removed it doens't matter Renault use the stock parts they didn't remove the ring, just for the cups but you can do for weight saving if you realy wanted.

I think the rears do, would lend itself to all the recent (incorrect) MOT failures.

The front disk look like they have them but they don't.

The rear on cars with abs have rings fitted the CUp doesn't have ABS but they didn't delte them form the parts list to build up the brakes for simplicity so whilst there there there no need to be there both legally or for any abs braking reasons.

The MOT railure on the fact the car doens't have any braking power at the rear. Thats down to the compensator being fixed at the back and build in from new.

Apparently with the new MOT system they use now when they key in the reg obviously it knows the car and it comes up with a statement about the rear brakes basically saying they cant fail so ive been lead to believe.

The abs rings weigh sod all (^^^ take them off for weight saving lol - but i did just that for the same reason edde :o) ! )

My cup does have the abs rings on the drive shafts as well, too much hassel to remove them i think.

Aye, that system is meant to work but for some reason 172 cup's dont have any of the bits about the rear brakes on it.
