Will see how you get on with yours Frazer then you can do mine :D , my airbag ecu wiring is tucked up behind the dash but really need to get the dash out and sort out the wiring and loose the glovebox.
This is a mk3 golf rad as you can see it sits low and covers the front of te car meaning it will get the best airflow possible. Just a shame the power steering pipe will get in the way , electric rack is an option but the saxo pump is a couple of wires and two pipes to join.
would like to...
Is that a MK3 golf rad Mark, looking at the pic MGCup put up of a front view of his car I did think it might have hit. I didnt win the rad i was bidding on so will have a measure up when i get home and see what other options there are , but worst case would be a switch to saxo\ 106 power...
Yes I think a standard style polo rad can be had for £50. I actually used the standard Clio cup rad for the last year and never had any temp issues on track, I'm now going for the larger golf one that almost goes the full way across the front of the car since I've went high comp so may have a...
Think most people use polo rads, or mk3 golf rads but I'm not sure on clearance with the golf one onthe power steering pipe and ault bracket. I'm bidding on a alloy golf one justnow so will hopefully find out soon on clearance, if there is a clearance problem I will switch to a saxo power...
So are you working with Will now James? Be interesting to see some of the stuff use come up with as Will has always thought out the box a bit with some of his ideas.
Re: Road/Track 172
My Clio cup ducts have now turned up after being lost by royal mail .
I also should not be aloud both eBay and PayPal while away with work, somehow I ended up buying oil temp and pressure gauges today which are a good safety.
BUT also somehow ended up with six 15"...
Wayne I got a k-tech center section free with the sports cat i just bought you can have if you want to go with new back box if you want. Needs a little repair to one of the welds.
Re: Road/Track 172
The standard ecu's are mappable but not many people can do it , don't think there is anyone in Scotland. For basic engine mods a RSTuner seems popular and cheap.
Im running omex 600 standalone with jenvey bodies
Depending how far you want to go with it a set of coilovers or cooksport springs to tighten it up a little for knockhill and a decent disk and pad set up for starters then get some track tires and give it a go.
A polly dog bone mount will also help at knockhill for gear changes going into some...
Re: Road/Track 172
Yes I use to have a 911 turbo , I was on FCN years ago but never posted on svag that I know of.
Im over in Norway justnow until the end of the month then only home for 10 days before I have to go to Houston , so don't know when my first trackday will be. I'm hoping to get...
Re: Road/Track 172
I'm running standard shafts and joint and never had any problems, think joints can become a problem if you go to low.
Nope not on any vag sites , apart from my R8 I've never owned a vag.
Re: Road/Track 172
I've managed to rescale the injectors on the omex and balanced the bodies with a syncrometer so it's now ideling perfectly and also switching to lambda control once the water temp is up to 60'c.
The new hubs have been held up with the courier but I'm away back to work for 3...
Re: Road/Track 172
I'm not sure if they would fit , I had to cut a fair bit of the bonnet skin out to give good clearance around the filter. I will more than likely look to fit an alloy polo rad at some point to get the heat away from near the filter then put a heat shield in to direct air to...
Re: Road/Track 172
It is now staying blue for this year with grey graphics up the side. Need to wait for my new hubs to get it back on the deck, will then give it a clean up before dropping it off for mapping in feb.
Re: Road/Track 172
Bonnet now shuts and clears the filter with ease , also drilled and meshed some holes to feed air directly inline with the trumpets.
im also hoping to pick up a sports cat this week to link my 182 manifold to the 172 system
Re: Road/Track 172
Ive had to switch back to the standard injectors so I could let the engine run to check for leaks, as need to get the car mapped and injectors re-scaled to stop it fouling plugs.
LOOOOOONNNGGGG inlet
Still need to trim the inside of the bonnet where the latch should be to...
Re: Road/Track 172
Also managed to get 120mm inlet trumpets fitted, along with some 20mm spacers between the bodies and backing plate to get the longest inlet possible
Bumping this back up as I have just refitted my engine and have fitted some 120mm trumpets , along with jenvey 20mm spacers between the bodies and airbox backing plate giving 140mm inlet.
I can get the bonnet shut but the filter is just touching so going to cut the inner skin out and may drill...
