The reason I ask is I've read about a few faults with aftermarket rods on here and I've happily been running around 210bhp for the seasons track days on standard rods. Revs will be capped at 7800 rpm , I know that some of the supercharged guys are running 240 bhp on then and the pistons seem to...
I'm planning of upgrading the engine in my track car over winter what's the safe limit of standard rods. I'm thinking of putting a set of high comp supertech pistons in and the standard rods already have ARP bolts.
Spec will be
ported head
supertech valves
uprated valve springs??
Engine...
Re: Road/Track 172
I started stripping the Clio down this morning so I can send the jenvey manifold away with the phase 1 head to get ported and matched, I also got a 182 exhaust manifold and should be picking up some 120mm trumpets later this week.
I also picked up a spray tin of bright green...
I agree that's why I'm trying to get rid of the M3 badges on the wing vents.
On my old 996 that had a GT2 bumper and spoiler I kept the turbo badge rather than fitting a gt2 one for the same reason, even though that car had more power , better suspension and brakes than a standard gt2...
Nice looking car , is it standard or has it had any work done. They really lend themselves to tuning with 400 bhp being fairly easy to get and still being nice to use daily, even my old 500bhp car put the power down well and was very useable.
Yip I have pics of the build and they even went to the extent of fitting a M3 boot floor panel so a genuine M3 back box could be fitted, its giving a combined 45+ mpg with around 280 bhp so ideal for what I want.
zedx19 I agree about replica cars im not a great fan either , Im actualy looking...
After selling my Focus RS I decided to get something semi sensible to use as a daily for a while and ended up buying this 330D from someone on a Ford site I use. It had already had full genuine M3 panels fitted along with the interior, since then i've added some carbon and had a remap and dpf...
I bought them second hand off of eBay for £50 I think, I got 60mm trumpets with my bodies so fitted these aswell giving me around 85mm but going to 120mm now.
These are the spacers I have fitted justnow.
They fit inline with the trumpets. I originally bought them to fit behind a flat backing plate to give fuel rail clearance but then bought a deep backing plate so fitted them inside.
Re: Road/Track 172
It's the only car I regret selling to the point I tried to buy it back at the start of this year, will have another one at some point in the future.
Re: Road/Track 172
Well that's the car now out of tax so will be laid up until next years track days start, but that can only mean one thing time to rip it to bits for winter upgrades.
May look out for a box with a diff fitted at the start of the year, and may even have a colour change/ wrap.
Looks so much better after the few changes you have made.
Is there wiring still going to the tailgate, if so use the wiper wiring to power a solenoid saves running new wiring and switch.
Nope but they do run and look after some big power cars and rally cars, I'm sure they will be able to do a Clio without problems. The set up on a Clio is similar to a lot of modern cars with no key ways used on the pulleys.
Very true Chip i know what you mean , I do try to use the same rollers before and after mods to rule that out as much as possible.
Yip I meant at the fly somewhere around 180/185 at the wheels I would hope ??
I normally only pay attention to the at the wheel figures on graphs.
Spec : super chip , power flow exhaust, matched inlet, viper intake
Spec : engine dynamics cams , jenvey 48mm bodies, power flow exhaust , 60 mm trumpets , standard injectors.
Winter plans are 120 mm trumpets , bigger...
Re: Road/Track 172
Winter plans are 120 mm trumpets , bigger injectors, raised comp, ported head and a 182 manifold . I am hoping for a real 215 bhp and 170ftlb
