Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
Cup is back to full health again!
£5 to Dave for his 'water in the plug wells' theory, it was correct. Strangely, I don't really know how it got there, but it was there none the less.
I've been using the car throughout the week and the problem did get...
AP Sportfahrwerke coilovers are actually pretty decent! I'd have them over others in the similar price; they're part of the KW group, so quality is spot on.
Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
It seems the symptoms/problems my car has are exactly the same as Dave posted about, with regards to water being in a plug well. Even down to the problem going away when the engine warmed up (and the water evaporating up) and then coming back when cooled down (water...
I've just had to drive it to work, exactly the same problem this morning.
Gutless Subaru sounding under 3k and some backfiring, although not quite as bad as yesterday. Again, once the engine was warmed up a bit, the problem dissapeared.
If it was water/liquid in the plug wells, could that...
Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
Cheers, mate.
I'm hoping it's the same problem Dave had, in which case it's a free fix! :)
The only thing I can't understand is why it runs perfect once the engine's warm :S
Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
I may just leave it in the garage then and get a lift to work then! :)
Wouldn't want to cause any further problems/damage :(
Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
From my fault thread, I've got a good idea of what to look at. I'll have a check for water first I think, seeing as that one would be the easiest/cheapest fix.
Sadly, I won't have a chance until Thursday, so I'll just have to drive it carefully until then :dead:
What was the fix for that? If there's water in there, is it as simple as getting it out and drying everything off? Or, did you have to replace plugs, leads? :)
Sadly, I can't really get to do anything with it until Thursday. :dapprove:
I'll just have to drive it carefully and with a bit of persuasion until then.
Thanks for the help guys :)
Did you have backfiring with the injector issue?
Thinking about it, would a backfire be caused by fuel but no spark? So possibly eliminating the injectors as the fault?
I had the 'toxic fume' light flashing for 30 seconds or so, then it went out.
It's been running as normal until this afternoon.
I'm a n00b when it comes to this, as I've never experienced anything like it before; I've been lucky in the past I think!
I don't understand why, when the engines...
Would the spluttering sound from the exhaust and backfiring be a result of the same thing?
Mentioning lambda, I've just had a de-cat fitted (a week or so ago) ; could that have anything to do with it?
I'll start by checking those things listed, cheers guys! I'm assuming if the plugs got damp...
Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project
So, just when all was going so well... :dapprove:
I started the car this afternoon to find a possible misfire when low in the rev range; along with an awful 'blowing' / 'spluttering' type noise heard from the exhaust.
There's very little power low in the rev...
