Today's was familiar territory for me - a Deep Black RenaultSport Clio 197 R27, 1 of the other 499 cars in this spec.
The owner, Sean, told me that the paint was quite badly swirled, but I hadn't seen the car previously, and hadn't seen any pictures of it. So I figured I'd take along a litre...
Nice work mate - Britemax is often overlooked, but I've been using it for a few months now, and I always get stunning results from it.
#6S is probably the best QD out there too.
I did a Red 197 with it recently:

I just tape them off mate, or do it by hand, or use a non abrasive paint cleanser. I still protect them too, with a spray wax type product - Zymol Field Glaze in this instance.
Cheers,
Russ.
I was looking forward to this one, and it didn't disappoint, a real pleasure to work on.
The car itself is a really credit to it's owner - Chris, as it was generally in superb condition, was obviously well cared for and protected, but was just a bit dirty from general road grime.
Apart...
Hello Kev :)
As stated, they achieve different things. The great thing about the Menz pads is their firmness, and how well they can cut via DA. Using a 3M polishing pad for example, won't deliver the same levels of correction as a Menz orange pad, but it will be easier to work with and...
This is what you want:

Nails Rain-X all day long :)
If you want a glass cleaner which repels water, then look at the Duragloss Rain Repellent Glass Cleaner (good name!) from I4D
It's £190 from CYC Dawn - bit pricey, but it really is awesome. It doesn't skip like the Kestrel either, so is a lot nicer to use.
The Milwaukee AP12QE is the same machine and sells for around £160, but there is no stock anywhere at the moment. I needed this ASAP as I have a fair few cars in...
Just thought a few of you may be interested to see the difference in size between the Kestrel (which is similar size to Makita and Silverline) and the Chicago CP8210 Rotary

Russ.
Do you have any pics of the swirling?
PO85RD won't do anything to BG, so if your aim is to correct, then you need 203S minimum. I4D does a 3 pack with 3.02, 203S and 85RE - get that as a starting point, and I'd suggest the Menzerna pads too, which work really well by DA.
BG is a pig to...
I just mask around them with the 3M blue tape.
I clean them with Megs APC or Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite (no abrasives), then protect them with Dodo Juice Red Mist (spray sealant) - same on the roof. I find if you use a wax, it gets caught around the edges too easily, and can be a pain to remove :(
The game has moved on since Poorboys Wheel Sealant.
This is a new brand, but trust me, the product is epic:

Wheel Cleaner - Bilberry or the I4D one. QD - Britemax #6S from I4D
If you are still struggling, you could try Megs Scratch X from Halfords, which is a fair bit more abrasive than SRP so it should clear them up for you.
Don't worry though, you won't do any damage by hand, it too will probably need a couple of hits to remove the marks.
UDS was designed as an AIO (All In One) type product, as it cleans and protects in one stage, but as it's quite oily (hence why it seems to work well on darker colours), EGP doesn't like to bond to it.
You could do UDS then Wax, but I see no reason why you'd ever use UDS over SRP. The glazing...
You could also try a filler heavy product as a base layer, such as AutoGlym Super Resin Polish and/or Poorboys White Diamond. These products will help significantly, but they won't perform miracles I'm afraid.
I'd invest in a correction detail, then look to maintain it properly going forward...
It depends on the glaze though - some leave an acrylic base, and as such don't effect the durability of a sealant layer on top, the main three being Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze II, and Poorboys White Diamond and Black Hole.
The 'traditional' glazes such as those from Clearkote and Megs #7 for...
Best three, would be Zaino Z16 (£12), Swissvax Pneu (£12) and Zymol Tyre Preserve (£27)
The Zymol looks very pricey, but you really do use very little, so it will last ages.
All three offer a very natural look.
Thanks Emily - it was a pleasure to do. What's this other beast which needs doing?
With regards to the other Detailer who attempted it, his views are in this post:
http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=1694354&postcount=28
He did give up after removing 6 microns and not correcting at all, but he only attempted the bonnet.
I started on the rear passenger wing and removed no more than 1-2 microns, and it corrected perfectly. It was very bizarre - I was there when Emily collected her car and he said it would just...
Thanks folks :)
If anyone local (I am mobile or you can come to me) is interested in something similar, or perhaps machine polishing tuition, then don't hesitate to contact me :)
