I'm pretty familiar with Dell desk and laptop (D4xx, D6xx, C6xx) and we've never had too much go wrong barring the usual HDD failure, screens breaking, batteries dying. The support has usually been fairly good at business level with next day fixes (after speaking to some Indian fool for 20...
That's on the old model Mikey, these ones are fixed. Sony released some new software for the one olds IIRC, we have 3 such laptops at work. Sony's build quality is leaps ahead of most manufacturers though.
The 1310 isn't a bad shout, but still not fussed on their support. Had 3 years of...
Yeah the RAM is easily fixed Oska, but the package is pretty good on the FZ, just a shame the battery life is so under inspiring. That said I'll just get a spare battery ordered if need be.
I do like the SZ and the fact it's CF, light and has a good CPU but I'm not sure if I'd miss the larger...
I was using one of the R500 last week as we bought one for an employee, they're very very portable and light, but the keyboard is awful and the trackpad is too small. Processor is also pretty slow for what I'd be looking for.
Nice for an Ultraportable though if that's what you're after.
Getting a new laptop from work and can pick whatever I fancy for £1500 or under.
Came up with three possible choices at present in the shape of:
Sony Vaio SZ71WN/C
Lightweight, 2.5ghz, 13", 4-5 hours battery life, 2gb, carbon fibre...
I use both for emailing a lot. I personally find typing on the iPhone easier than my pearl due to full qwerty keyboard, but after you've learnt the shortcuts and how the predictive works on the BB they work well also.
June will bring new firmware and enterprise class function to the iPhone...
Blackberries aren't bad, as said you get a good 7 days use out of them before they need a full charge, circa 15 days standby.
To use they're no worse than a normal phone, certainly a better UI than Motorola/Samsung, and almost on par with SE/Nokia IMO.
Lots of good software for them too, but...
Symantec have the corp side of things wrapped up, never had any issues with it really. Catches around 650 virus attacks a month on average and not one infection....yet :o
Furry, aye bit of a shame mate but I think they're looking for something more long term. Let me know if your circumstances change.
Gab, send me an email mate from the OP, can go down to The Loop or something next week.
G2500 I'll check it out on Monday chap.
TwoSugars, it's not a bad wage by any stretch for the role, but some folk on here will turn their nose up at sub-50k salaries ;)
Gabi, plenty of poon around those parts indeed :)
Cheers folks, it's an excellent company all the usual Bupa/HSA malarky and a very relaxed but professional environment, based about 250m from Oxford Street too :)
There's Mac and PC available for design, any there's a huge budget for getting someone a nice new Macbook Pro.
Anyway, just a...
As above, the company I work for is looking for a designer to rebrand stationary and design all manner of magazines and brochures with scope for more.
Thought I'd spam it on here as I know there's a decent 'IT Crowd', I'll state that the salary is nominal to begin - 25k but there is a bracket...
Don't disregard it.
I got a similar letter from my ISP pertaining to me downloading a Lions Gate film a while back via BT. They too requested a response to the incident which included filenames/filetype/IP/timestamps, I basically said "my little brother, I'll slap him etc" and they were fine...
iPhone big? Oh please. For a start 90% of it is a high resolution screen, it's also slimmer than most the phones on the market which is a more important dimension (no bulging pockets on me).
