No you can't. HD-DVD is a completely different format, kind of like trying to play a DVD in your hifi, just won't be readable. Samsung I believe are bringing out a player that will play both though IIRC.

Hm only wandered as mine is stood on it's end, and apart from a quick 30 second blast of the fan sometimes (it's near a radiator) I can never really hear it at all.

Dansta, you just need to buy a HDMI cable mate. Any cable will do, no need to spend more than £15 on one as there's no difference in PQ.
