I reckon my similar problem is down to the key too... I've discovered if I put pressure on the key (push the key in towards the barrel AND push the end outwards towards the front of the car) while turning, it always starts, first time. If I don't then it doesn't and varies between solid light...
Those hazard switches are delicate/weak and fail all the time, if it keeps doing it and you've checked the connection etc then get one off eBay for ~£10. Keep the original triangle faceplate to swap to the new switch
Why hunt around for a manual that you may or may not be able to find, when you can simply ask helpful fellow owners on the friendly ClioSport forums.... :)
Looks like another useless gimmick to me. I know if I ask where something is it'll take me ten miles away to a place that closed down 5 years ago. There will be a problem encountered with the process 9 times in 10.
I just see a very angry guy (understandably) letting off some steam after a fight, we know what caused the fight (act of vandalism) and we know who did the vandalism, what we don't know is exactly who threw the first punch etc, no doubt both parties have differing accounts, but I know who I'd...
All you see in the video is him doing the "apologetic old fella" act because things got physical and he lost.
You don't see what he was like before the camera started rolling, when he first got discovered doing the vandalism. I read the original thread and they said he became combative, began...
Dad's done £27k in depreciation, but he did buy new and get 14 years of use out of it so it's not quite as bad as it sounds... actually yes it is, it's f**king loads. I'm never going to buy a new car, ever.
I've read many times that most Renault dealers will replace a dodgy bonnet catch free of charge, due to the bad publicity they had with Watchdog etc over the bonnets flying open, hopefully shouldn't cost you anything

That seemed to me to be a damn good video. Tells you why you need to check the voltage when trying to start the car too, as a duff battery can still read say a healthy 12.6V with no load but go down to next to nothing under load
Thanks chaps
I'll update the thread with what works and what doesn't, it'll probably be Monday when I visit the scrappy (good tip!) and get a new decoder ring and I'll have a look at that wiring too. If that doesn't work then I'll move on to the key, if anyone here offers key programming in...
Thanks for the reply Matt, here's a pic that may help. It's a 2002 ph2 172.
I've ordered another battery as it needed replacing anyway due to the range of the central locking not being great, but I'm not expecting it to fix my starting problem :(
It would be wonderful to have another key to...
My GF was never impressed with the Clio, and she's even less impressed now it's a disabled POS laying crippled on the driveway with an immobiliser/electrical fault.
I didn't think of the battery, as I thought the transponder would work even if the battery was flat? But I have noticed I need to get quite close to the car before the remote central locking will work, so it sounds plausible and I will definitely buy a new battery tomorrow.
I've been reading...
Thanks Mick
The car got me to heathrow and back - I was very careful not to stall it in traffic or turn the engine off at any point!
Just as well as I've just spent 10 minutes trying to start it, and only managed to fire it up twice! (From a cold engine).
Here is a better description of what...
I stopped to get petrol and the damn thing wouldn't restart, I had to push it out of the way of the pumps
I don't know if it's related but in the last week I've seen the red light flash when trying to start the car (and the engine hasn't turned over), but it always worked second time...
I'm keeping some money aside for "when" my 172 needs it... if it doesn't need it then I'll consider it a bonus.
My car's been good so far but I realise, being relatively modern and french, that there's a bill coming somewhere down the line.
I declare massive bullshit!
The £1,000 fine is theoretical; in real life you get a fixed penalty of £60. Also, a lack of MoT does not automatically invalidate your insurance at all, the insurance ombudsman has seen to that.
Main: We tend to see gains of between 12-15bhp from this stage 2 package.
FAQ: I would expect to see an improvement of 5-7BHP with Stage 2 tuning.
If nothing else, he's spotted an issue with their website which needs fixing.
It's been about 7 years since I passed my test, and I still enjoy getting in the driver's seat to drive, even if it's just down to the shops.
If you no longer enjoy driving (and it sounds like you're fed up of it) then perhaps a break would do you good, but I think you'll start to miss the car...
A lorry has come along and crushed that post for sure.
Sorry to be the negative one but you can still see the lorry's tyre track on the ground, in water, that means the incident is fresh, maybe just a few minutes or hours old. They are only liable if they've had reasonable time to discover or...
