    Saving Raw edits?

when you process a raw file (for canon) a xmp file is created with the settings you used so the next time you open the file the previous settings are automatically loaded.

Any new Canon bodies out soon?

space in terms of name but not spec. what would they do to the 50D but still stay less capable than the 7D.

Any new Canon bodies out soon?

can't see a 60D not with the 50D and 7D 550 is a replacement for the 500 and the 5D2 is not likely to be replaced anytime soon. It took them 3 years to replace the 5D

    ND Grad Filters

    sigma 24mm f1.8 has a 77mm thread the 14-42 has a 58mm thread search ebay for coking P holder, 77mm cokin P adaptor, 58mm P adaptor, kood ND filter
  9. V

    ND Grad Filters

the cokin system uses the same filter holder but different lens adaptors so you don't need to use stepping rings.

    ND Grad Filters

problem with that is colour casts and noise

    ND Grad Filters

a CP won't stop the sky getting over exposed only the ND grad will do. best to get a couple of ND grads (soft) and go from there. using the cokin P system holder and kood/hitech filters should not work out too expensive

    Raw Question.

    Split between Lens'...

55-250 is a pretty decent lens for the money IQ wise. its let down with a bit crapy build quality and a micro motor to do the focusing. 50mm f1.8 won't be great AF wise on a 1000D particularly in low light. samyang 8mm is totally manual (both focus and aperture) for the canon mount

    Lens Recommendations.

17-40 has significantly less CA and less barrel distortion but it is like you say shoter and heavier.

    Lens Recommendations.

Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC OS Macro HSM (make sure its the HSM with OS varient) for around £320 gives you the wide angle and a bit longer reach or the 17-85 for the sameish price brand new (lens hood is about £20 sigma comes with a lens hoos).
  17. V

    Lens Recommendations.

**sale info removed** the main problem with zooms like the 18-200 is the quality of the image you get from them which is not particularly great. greater the zoom range the more IQ problems you get like barrel distortion, chromatic aberation, softness etc. The 15-85 is not much of an...

Another 'which' camera .... (help needed)

when I bought my 5D2 I could hve bought nikon since I sold every thing off but I don't like the way nikons handle.

    Canon 100-400mm

nope, mainly cause its a canon lens lol you can't fit canon EF lenses on a nikon body due to physical attributes of the lens mount. you can fit Nikon lenses via an adaptor on to a canon though.

Another 'which' camera .... (help needed)

depends on the picture you see TBH. Nikon have done better since the last world cup (over 90% canon IIRC) but it is not such a big swing. however thats not their biggest market and TBH quite irrelavent to what camera you buy. Nikon entry level cameras are not the best for functions compared...

Will this lense work with a D50 ???

lenses with HSM or AF-S are faster and a lot quieter than lenses that use the camera's motor.

    Shooting the moon

don't use a long shutter speed. the moon moves so you'll actually have to use a fast shutter speed. if your camera has live view or is a compact then set it up on a tripod and then watch the moon move across the screen very quickly lol

    Getting pissed off

a stop refers the difference in light being let in. if you have a meter reading and you reduce the light by one stop you are letting half the amount of light in. this can be done either by reducing the aperture or increasing the shutter speed. metter reading 1/100s f8 one stop less...

    cannon eos 7d

since you can pick up in store just go to the store and see if it is an import (plug for charger will be different). if it is don't bother if its not then get it.
