I zoomed in to see the detail lol even a normal 900px image would show up the detail nicely.

your image would be sharper if you had shot at f5.6. Diffraction will be making the photos soft at f10 meaning you'd not have so much sharpening which would reduce the artifacts you can see in the OOF areas.

I'd not bother with the Nikon D40 (or the other entry level nikons) they are too restricted in their functions compared to other entry level cameras.
