Its probably been covered in your previous threads, but just remind me Paul, what product did you use to paint the exhaust?
BTW - superb example, someones gonna get one hell of a second hand car when you sell mate.
Definitely worth letting your insurer know - some people won't insure import cars/ end up putting a higher premium on it.
Let them know if its got a Cat 1 alarm and you should be ok. Never had any problems with mine.
Just sold mine and got what I wanted for it.
It was an '03 172 from TradeSales.co.uk [classed as import, though only ever registered in the uk] However it had major services every 12k miles, oil changes between, had a meticulous service history, run on 98ron minimum, and was in as good...
Didnt find my new car til 5pm on Sunday afternoon, and didnt expect the part ex price to be any good, but it was, so I let it go. Last day of month on Monday, so I had to take delivery of new car and chop mine in the following day!
So by Monday 6pm the cars had been swapped!!!
Sorry I didnt...
Part chopped it.:)
Gutted when the garage said "...ah, we'll just send that to auction...":dapprove:
Gave it a real good clean before it went - totally swirl free - must admit it put some of the other cars to shame on the forecourt [+ all they were new;)]
Never know, it might turn up on here...
Had my CTR since last weekend. So the 172 is still very much at the forefront of my mind.
Initial acceleration seems faster, mid range the Clio has a bit more linearity, then the VTEC on the Honda kicks in and the sensation is immense. Straight up to the limiter without so much as a hint of...
Have you tried AC Williams Renault at Grantham Pete?
You can at least talk to them about the price if its a bit on the high side.
£651 sounds v expensive!!
Paid £324 all in on mine, though that was about 3yr ago.
I've ordered about 5 or six times from Tim @ CYC and its always come the following day, whether I have it delivered to work or home.
E-mail communication/PM's have been replied to swiftly. I'm really pleased to have a supplier who is actually very customer focused.
Keep up the good work Tim.:)
Spotted driving towards town centre near the High School.
I gave the horn a couple of beeps and waved out the window but I dont think you saw me.
......or should I say, you didnt recognise me;)
Yep, the plugs dont really need to be changed til 72k, I changed mine at 50k and noticed a bit of a difference.
Cost me £75 for the proper NGK plugs fitted at Angelworks amongst fixing a couple of other things.:)
The plugs are about £10ea iirc.
You have to remove the inlet manifold to get to...
I phoned renault specifically for an interim oil & filter change with the excellium ldx 5w40 oil.
They quoted me £110.
I had previously paid £153 inc vat for the 48k full service - also at AC Williams Renault - Grantham.
I was in another Renault garage last week and saw the std service £250...
Theyre not going to want to change the belts f.o.c though. Who did the servicing, Renault??
Although it is classed as a 5yr service for cam & aux belt.
The aux belt should have been changed at 36k anyway, if that goes, you're in trouble. IIRC I've been told the aux belt snapping could take out...
Dont wind up DrRollo. He's FF police.:rasp:
Its either 'Cup' or 'Full Fat' as they have been colloquially known on here.
If its Standard with cup packs its cupped, not full fat.
ie.
FF - standard 172/182
Cup - 172/182 Cup
Cupped - standard 182 with cup pack[s]
Bucko,
If you want to LIVE with the car, then you've made the right choice.
The amount of times come c*nt has pulled out of a side road/roundabout in front of me and I've needed to use the ABS, I'm happy I bought a FF. Or even on the odd occasion that I've misjudged something.:o
And I do...
RS Tuning have a rolling road to test their maps on, Paul can do you a before and after print out. Though he's in Leeds.
If you're in Middlesex, then yes, its far less distance to go to K-TEC.
And they are good, they know what they're on about.
I was on detailing world the other day and there was a poll of who's Megs G220 has either failed or had to be replaced under warranty.
I think it was something like 30%+
Not good. They are good when they're working I'm sure but, thats a hell of a high percentage.:S
BTW Super resin...
Cant go wrong with the Autoglym range that you have in Halfords.
Super resin polish for polishing and extra gloss protection for sealing the finish.
Most importantly, get one of your Lambswool washmitts. Soooo much better than a sponge and doesnt have the problem of inducing more swirl marks...
