TBH at 17 i think hell be looking at considerbly more than £2k. I wouldnt waste my money on insurance just to have a car faster than my mates. Get a 1.2/1.4 or something for 12months/2years and then look into getting a faster car.

Agree to an extent although seeing alot of just crashed 1*2 threads as well. In my opinion mk1 valvers/williams have passed pikey ownership and are now becoming collector/enthusiast items

Good point Ben. A mk1 172 can be easily had for under £2k. With a mk2 coming in at around £2.5k. Ive noticed alot of non sport mk2's driven by complete tits as well lately though.

I think that could be another thing that made me think about the caliber of people who now own mk2's...I seem to have seen a hell of alot more just crashed threads lately than previous winters.

I personally cant afford a 197 at the min without taking out a loan. My 182 is just comfortable for me running cost wise. I can afford to run it and maintain it well however i think going for a 197 or something of similar cost would be stretching me a little thin.

I paid £8 for one from Renault. I bought one from somewhere other than Renault before and it was crap...missed half the rear screen due to the curve in it. Save your time and go straight to renault imo

For me i think it would have to be the cup given the choice of the 2. Although given the full list of 1*2 variants to pick from id choose my 182 with cup suspension every time.

Accelerator cables do snap. Pretty common on cars with a traditional cable setup. At least the new one should make the pedal a little bit more sensative.
