It's a question I am asked everyday. A year ago I had a Fiat Stilo mJTD and that had 155bhp and 245ftlb. It was my pride and joy and regretted selling it. When I had the 1.6 Megane (very reliable) it was a living death and I vowed never to behave old again (I'm 46). I sold camera gear and the...
I seem to have figured out the issue; it's me apparantly. Gave two of my brothers a blast and they think they are very good brakes. That's as maybe but the Meganes were better.
I believe they are standard pads. In the month I have had the car I have not taken it out on the twisties so perhaps I have not given them chance to impress. Well, it's a nice morning here so might go out and give it a blast. Will come back later with an update.
Would echo everybody's recommendation to go for the Recaro's even though I avoided them and went standard. Having titaniums rods/cages in my spine kinda swayed my decision.:(
Yes, it was an 07 and those brakes were awesome.
In fairnes yes, my daily trip to work consists of two junctions on the motorway and that's really it so no real chance to get them warmed up; then again it was the same in the Megane.
Good call, I will look to attend a meet in the Midlands...
Quite solid, no spongieness. In fact, it feels just the same as the Megane but without the same result. I might have just had a cracking setup in the Megane. Saying that I went out in a Clio Cup Racer yesterday (Palmersport) and I had to give that some effort to get it to work.
I thought that but there are no warning lights at all. Don't get me wrong they stop the car ok but not in the manner I expected. With the Megane I had to crow-bar my face off the windscreen.
I have had my 197 for four weeks now (57 reg/12k miles) and despite having Brembo's up front they can't compare with the brakes on my standard 1.6 Megane. I was under the impression that these were something special but I ain't getting it. Anyone else experienced similar?
Pretty much in the same boat with my new 197, really want to give it some beans but dont like going above 4k. Luckily this Thursday I get to thrash someone else's 197 all around Beford Autodrome on a Palmersport day. Of the seven performance cars I get to drive it's the Clio I am looking forward...
Just watched it again and there's something not taken into account with what you are saying. The second reference is not taken at the second corner, just a second checkpoint. I don't know the circuit but there could be a series of corners in between the checkpoints.
Having only had my 197 for two weeks I got paranoid after reading this thread but having checked over all the OP's concerns I am happy to report I have one single issue already mentioned; bunny hopping. No consolation to the OP I suppose but I feel a lot better now.
You got Clent, Waseley Hills & the Lickeys right near you; some nice locations there. Top of the Lickeys overlooking the Droitwich masts might offer a nice backdrop.
I seem to be attracting the wrong sort of attention since I got my 197 a fortnight ago. It seems people (not all chavs) want to pitch their steeds against my little Clio. I never had this attention in my bog standard 1.6 Megane. Getting a bit silly now but I refuse to rise to the bait.
I would go with pre-owned. I frequent a forum called talkphotography.co.uk where the for sale section is particularly active. I put my kit up for sale two weeks ago and I raked in just short of £3k in less than a week. There are usually lots of EOS 350/400 with starter lenses all around the £200...
Congrats on your new car, it looks a cracker. I am in the market for a 197 so I expect to be posting pictures like you in about three weeks if I can find the right one. Budget is around £11k so hope to get at least an 07.
