Do people go for the cup because of the lighter weight/marginal difference in speed or just because they are cheaper? I avoided the cup cos I dont really like the colour and prefered having stuff like traction control and aircon. I have no complaints about the speed of the 172!

A 1.3 SR would thrash most 1.4 clios I rtekon ( I should know I used to have one ) They weigh a lot less and adding something as simple as an exhaust and fiter really quickens them up. If he had a set of twin webbers on (quite a popular nova mod) he would definately eat a 1.4

17s will kill the performance. The engine has to do more work to turn the wheel one revalution so you get a decrease in acceleration and a pretty big drop in top end speed.
