i've just got an email back from the seller!
Hello,
First of all you must know that right now I'm located in Netherlands due to my job and the car will be shipped from here. I have a car from my job to drive here, so I can`t keep this one anymore, pay insurance and all the associated taxes...
thats a shame, still sounds interesting though! might be worth phoning a few people who race the clios, i think you can get contact info for the cup teams online.
they might have some worthwile info?
do the racers have a different turret design? i thought there wasn't enough room to do this on the road cars? or is it something like an inverted design?
i didn't **** off the coilovers neal, i said the whole setup sounds very good, but when i asked for some similar speced suspension. ie. two way independantly adjustable, i was told it would cost £2300. which is £1000 more than mine. and in my opinion expensive.
i'm actually a chef, so no. i have spent quite a lot of time driving different tracks and so on. it's something that i enjoy. my plan with the clio is to slowly develop it until i can afford to buy a day to day car, then make it track only. the next thing i do will be a diff, and possibly a...
it's deadly as it is, but that is becuse it is pretty hard, but to be honest, there is no point spending that much money to buy decent kit and then hobbling it for road use.
ah sorry, just properly read that, it's got competition dampers and springs on as it is, i'm just about to have the...
but then when you have a load of tin pot companies that pretend to be tuning companies trying to make a name for themselves its only natural you get these "hanger on" types that will use their name and reputation to try and build up their own profile. pathetic, but amusing at the same time, as...
mark, i couldn't agree more! one other thing they told me was how you can't set a car for both road and track, they both become a compromise, so i'll have it set for the track and just live with it day to day.
in my opinion things like roll centre, centre of gravity, movement ratio and scrub radius are all going to have much more of an impact than just slightly changed damper or spring rates. but to set all these correctly takes serious knowhow.
i've been speaking to a place called track...
fair enough, maybe i had the wrong end of the stick. or andy misunderstood me. but he did quote me what i have posted. and he definately told me they were built by his "mate who used to work for leda"
which to me can only be a good thing?
like i said, the service behind it all sounds spot on. they have a computer program to calculate the rates, etc. the dampers are re-buildable, re-valveable. etc. i personally wouldn't pay that much.
kw's but they were £1300. so still a bit more than you are talking about.
well worth it though. if it came down to engine work or suspension, the coilovers would win every time.
and i work with animals, not talk to them. lol
