Well I wouldnt say quarter miling is dumping the clutch. You cant post a good time like that Ben. Ill be the first to admit that there must be more skill in track driving, what im trying to say is that people shouldnt make out as if track driving is the be all and end all of driving a fast or...
hehe looks like well never agree on this one;)
lets just say that I dont think circuit racing can be that hardcore if only rich boys can afford to do it enough to get good at it. I wonder how many racing drivers are genuinely talented and just one day got lucky somehow, and how many are just...
LOL yes you are right nothing will ever stop me from 1/4 miling nor many others on here...but rather than take the piss, why not try it, methinks a lot of these track day fans look down their noses at quarter milers because when it came to the crunch they wouldnt be able to cut the mustard on...
Cheers for the comments lads, even Im starting to get jealous of myself now.:D Simon172 you hit the nail on the head, a lot of people dont understand why I would want to spend that much money on my old valver rather than just buying a faster car in the first place. But thats not the point -...
PaulRobo - a lot of £££, dont really want to talk big numbers on here though, but suffice to say its the going rate for the full house high-boost version with everything polished and everything uprated.
Adams16v - Camera phone so nothing I can do about it!
Maciek - I chromed the rocker cover...
BTW you can also see in the 2nd picture (of the inlet side) that the injectors are pale-green coloured and not the usual orange-topped ones. The black bottom end of the lump has had the brand new low comp pistons in.
Well it looks like it might be ready for next weekend, my valvers up on the lifters at BB with the engine bay empty, the oil cooler and chargecooler rad you can see at the front:

...and heres my F7P lump with chromed...
Says the man who darent do a 1/4 mile in case he gets hammered. Anyone can drive around a track if theyve got enough money. Not everyone can post a good quarter mile time, simple as that.:)
LOL you losers I cant believe youre all missing the point so badly. :DWho cares if its a Lada if its *that* quick? I cant think of many things better than cruising around in a bright yellow Lada and hammering all comers at the lights! Thats money well spent IMHO
Thats why you might as well leave your jack and spare wheel at home and get the AA to come and tow you home! Best place I found at the front was actually a bit further forward, at the rear of the front wheel arch under where the wing attaches.
I dont believe it even still exists. To my knowledge, no-one actually knows anyone who owns or has ever owned one. No-one ever remembers it being bought by anyone. Strange that out of the thousand keen Clio enthusiasts on here, no-one knows much about it. Odd that such an apparently fast and...
One of the first mods I did to my valver was sorting out the suspension. I could talk technical about suspension settings but I wont cos its not my field of expertise. I leave that to Koni and trust that the reason they are still in business after all these years is because they design their...
a PBV (really an adjustable fuel pressure regulator) wont solve your flatspot. you need a tweakable ECU or chip, a good Renault specialist and a rolling road session. adjustable fuel pressure is useful in later stages of tune but by itself is not a wonder-mod.
My opinion is that if you dont want a cat and dont want any hassle, just buy an older car. If you buy a new car with a weird lamda sensor after the cat then its obviously there for some emissions control reason, and it will go wrong if you change the system upstream. On a valver the lamda is in...
Yeah the market does dictate what price they will go for. Plus what you must remember is that unlike nowadays where the poshest model of a car is usually the sportiest and just as easy to drive as all the other lower models, the valver was not just a top of the line Clio of the time. You dont...
I just got a s6R Neo last week as well! Waiting to install the full system including the radar/laser detector under the bonnet once my Clios back. Just testing the GPS unit in the Tipo running off the fag lighter and it seems to work ok. Screen is a bit hard to read though, and it seems to take...
Well its a bit tricky without a picture! Ill know straight away if it is Steves. In fact Ive still got his number somewhere, but havent seen him for at least a year.
Dash youve got to go for quad tailpipes mate. Every day I go past an M3 with quad pipes and its mental. Looks stupid on a slow car, but on something that obviously has a decent wedge of power and more than cylinders, its par for the course!
Yeah MLE sounds like you bought a nail. THeres no way that much stuff goes wrong in 3 months unless its not been looked after or you bought it at the wrong time. All valvers do cost a bit to keep them running, but just to put this into perspecive I bought a Tipo for £400 and since then the head...
Well I would never have even left my car in Beaumont Leys (assuming its the same one in Leicester?) even ten years ago so I definitely wouldnt nowadays...have you thought about some of that security film?
