Is it really 25 before you can get insured on a decent hot hatch these days?
I was 19 when I had my valver (paying 900 quid insurance) and I'm sure there were many other's on here at the time being 18/19 insuring performance hatches for that sort of money too. lol
For 6k you'll get an early one with bare spec!
Put it this way I traded my very well spec'd FF 58 plater on 18k into a main dealer only a few months back for 7.5k so I think you're looking at, at least 8k private for a belter.
Even at that though definetly worth it.
You'll love a well spec'd 197 mate!
I went to one from a 182 to one and whilst it wasn't as raw and go-kart like it was a much better all round car (aside of what it got fuel economy wise).
Having owned a late spec'd 197 and now 200 I can say they are very similar spec for spec!
I personally prefer the looks of the 200 and the noise it makes when you push the go pedal seems a tad better but a well spec'd 197 or R27 is by no means a poor car.
^Indeed!
Took me two and half hour's last night to do 25 miles and ended up getting down to 22.8 mpg. Think it guzzled a gallon and half.lol
Nay bother as they say in scotland. Rather that that than be in an every day runabout or oil burne or worst still smoking 40-60 fags a day as you say.
I had my recaros in the 197 for two years and there was never any sign of ware.
I have gone for the leathers in the 200 though which suit me better for the type of driving I'm doing.
They are as supportive as the recaros but more comfortable at the same time.
Just don't look quite as good. lol
Rarer than Fiestas.
I rarely see 172's, 182's, 197's or 200's on my 50 mile daily round one but I used to see at least 4 or 5 white ZS's each way alone (the last straw was when I kept noticing a driving instructors one near on identical to mine).
Personally i think when you look on PH and...
I was considering waiting for the ST but the main issue for me was how common the Fiesta is so I opted against it!
One of the chaps at work just traded in his ST Focus for an S3 ddue to there being five on our close knit estate alone.
I think it's this countries love with Ford that would put...
I don't know about you mark but I always found that saving fuel heavily depends on the type of driving you're able to do rather than how you drive in normal conditions.
My mpg gauge always took it's heaviest hit if I was stuck in stop start traffic for an hour (I don't think iv ever had another...
It all comes down to the way you drive them!
I regularly used to see 40 mpg in my 182 and 32 in my 197 with mixed driving.
Fact is drive these cars like you stole them wherever you go and you're bound to see low readings.
The fuel you use is also a factor...
I thought it might be the better stuff!
I always run my 197 on ultima but for the last few fill ups used esso 95.
Think I lost around 4mpg so considering its only saving about £5 on a tank it's more in my interest to carry on using the better juice I think.
And for anyone asking whether the expence is worth it, it depends on what you want out of a car!
I tried a regular daily driver after many years with RS's and lasted 4 months.
For me spending that bit more (I think around £100/150 a month is what I'm realistically expecting) is worth it for...
I'll be happy to see 30mpg out of my commute so 40mpg would be a massive plus!
I don't doubt your figure's though as on decent 6th gear/70mph strolls to work in the 197 I used to see 32 regularly.
Are you using standard fuel or 97+ Ron?
That little lots not gonna be cheap is it mate?
Bet you wish you could've chopped it in for that Aston? lol
Decent looking car mind. You still preferring it over the 182?
I amazed myself but to be be honest it was bought as a warm hatch that was supposed to save me money which it struggled to noticeably do (38 mpg in a nutshell wasn't a great deal better than 30-32 when you put the driving exp into the equation).
Back in an RS now anyway so I'm back to being...
Are squeaky brakes the norm with all of them?
My cup chassied 197 seemed to come with and keep hold of the squeaky brakes for the few years I had it and now my 200 seems to have exactly the same issue.
There is absolutely no problems with the way the cars have stopped so I put it down to brake...
I was thinking the same tbh. I never get this.
Having had numerous performance Clios over the last 10 years I could probably could on one hand how many people have 'tried' to race me.
Made a good choice there mate.
I made the wrong one chopping in my 197 for a Ford Fiesta Metal just before Chirstmas and today i have picked up a 200 as i was really struggling to like it let alone fall in love with it. lol
How come you needed to sell the 197?
I have a like for like and after 3 months with it am already a tad bored especially because of how common the closely related ZS's are.
I find it's nice to look at and does the job it's supposed to do (although it gets nowhere near the quoted 47mpg combined) but its not a patch on the RS clios...
