Actualy, in my experiance, the optimum revs for shifting up are just somewhere near the limiter...
If you shift at 7250/7000 the revs will jump back to 5500, to the point of peak torque, thus the engine will rev on with its full potential...i could be wrong, tho...
nope, still an N/A with something round 200bhp
IMO, an N/A engine suits the clio better, but the performance wont change much as it will probably add on some extra kilos too...
but thats all theory for now...
hm, i dont know if the rev limiter will remain at 7250, as renault says they will increase power on the new RS through revs - so the limit may go up to 8000 or so...
i really cant agree with that, even if i am not a typical proud clio owner...
i would agree that the clio cannot reach the cars mentioned above in terms of comfort, build quality and possibly endurance...
but it is more than capale of at least matching any of those cars in terms of speed and...
i am talkin bout this: http://world.honda.com/news/1997/image/4970822b_1.gif
i was made exclusivly for the japanese market, though...and, yeah, its a 1.6
;)
were there ever any mk1 type-r civics imported in GB??
i reckon its quite a peace of work, with 185 hp, around 950kg and 5.9s from 0-60...
its obviously faster then a 182 in a straight line, wonder could it match the clio on the track? :D
[Edited by Loopz on 28 August 2005 at 12:06am]
i had the ignition coil problems with my 1.6 16V, but the symptoms were a bit different...when i started the car, the revs were jumping form 500-1500, when i pulled out, they stopped, but then all off the sudden the power dropped, just like there would be only two cylinders left...
the 1.6...
I think that many 172 owners would be suprised if they took their cars on rollers...i know two more clio owners who got significantly less HP on their cars than declared - one got 152 on his mk2, the other 147 on his mk1...both fairly new at the time...
i dont know if the 182 still has this...
I am really not suprised by the figures you got...
The clios were always notorious for producing substantialy less HP than declared...the power actually varies from arond 145 hp all the way to 175, so its a matter of luck really if you get a good or a bad one...
mine 5-year old mk1, with 50k...
the 1.4RT performances are probably not very far off the mk2 1.6 with 90 hp...also worth considering is that the 1.4RT is one of the best clios ever made in terms of reliability...
I too rarely take it over 5000rpm on an average day, i just love to play around with the power, knowing and enjoying the fact, theres always plenty more where that came from...
but today, when i got the car back from the shop after two days, i just let it go wild, i slammed it down in every...

apex is ok, considering the quality/price ratio, but if you are looking for a little extra performance, go for the KW, Eibach (great in combination with Bilstein shocks) or H&R...
still...60mm...damn thats low as low can go IMO:D...
sure, why not?
but when you think about all the mods youd have to do, it would be a lot easier to just slap a valver hull on an M3, lol:D
good luck though, if you decide to go for it anyway :)
i have the same problem in third...its really quite unpredictable, but it usually happens when im shifting over 4000 rpm from 4th down to third...can be very annoying at times...
what did you mean by "box on the way out"?...i was considering to have that fixed, but if its not a potentialy...
i my opinion, the clio and mini, despite being in the same size class, are two very much different cars...
mini is a piece of art on four wheels and a status simbol...also, i love the engine, though not as good as it could be, its a very interesting concept in the class of super-minis (1.6...
lol...i cant believe you people take top gear so seriously :)...its a great show, i personaly love it, but - its just a show, primaraly designed to entertain the masses...
besides...0.2 secs...as an ex-race driver tiff should know best off all how little it takes to loose 2 seconds on a track...
