hm...i get a similar knocking noise when i floor mine in 1th gear...it kicks in at about 4k revs and gets stronger when it reaches the limiter... the odd thing is, it only does in 1th gear and only when i go full throtle...if i take it up to 7000 gently in doesn't occur... anything related?

if you want performance, keep the mk1 if you want comfort&toys, go for the mk2 although, if you are after the comfort and gadgets, why pick a sports clio in the first place...

Clio RS has 169 bhp. Mine got 162 on RR when i got it, now it's probably putting out slighlty more, since the clutch was in pretty bad shape at that time and i've had it replaced. Sometimes it has a hard time reaching the promised 220 kph, top speed varies from 210-220, it blasts to 200, but...

I know its been covered over and over again, and i went through search, but couldnt find what is the deal with the so called 4k rattle? Must admitt, the sound is really annoying, but what i want to know is, could this rattle do some serious damage to the car in any way?

Mine does bout 350 on a full tank. Both urban and extra-urban, usually shifting somewhere near 4k. Most i did was 390, but that was very careful driving, without any hard accelerations whatsoever and keeping the revs at about 3k for 90% of the time.

never particulay bothered me... you just gotta be hard on the steering wheel and easy on the gas pedal if neccessary...
