I had a Cup that ran 14.650 @ Pod which means mine was a decent one and that Im not a totally sh*t driver! (Have any standard 172s run quicker?)
I bought it because it was cheaper and I preferred the colour and the wheels...
In real world tests on the road against other 172s there really is...
Ive just got to convince my girlfriend that blowing a pocketful cash on a valver is more important than the back garden and then another one could be sold!
Trouble is, it will have to be really cheap to deter me from the Fiat X1/9 Ive got my eye on!
Would you accept 500 notes for...
The red indicates you have about a gallon left so you should go however many miles you do to the gallon - ie drive slowly and youll make it to the Shell ;)
(I think that made sense! :D )
Saw a Cup lapping Combe on Saturday afternoon on the Classic & Sports day.
Seemed to be making fairly good progress... :D
(I wont mention the Mk1 Golf that went flying past! :o :devilish:)
My dad had a newish 1.6 16v (54 plate I think) and the fuel economy was worse than my Cup whenever we engaged in any form of spirited driving!
(ps: overall he rated the car fairly low- neither really sporty or really comfortable so couldnt quite work out the point of it!)
Ive been looking for a cheap valver for a while now and have just come across a rather dodgy sounding one which has got a Megane gearbox in it.
does this sound a fairly normal conversion to do? (I havent heard anyone on here talk about it before...)
All mechanical help gratefully...
My Cup always hovered around the 28mpg mark.
My dad bottled out of buying a 182 and got a 1.6 instead to be more economical. The only time we took the two cars on a long motorway drive together (going to Alton towers!) we were doing about 90-100mph and the cup was better than his!
It might be expensive to mod but its only 7.5k to buy a 20 month old Clio Cup in the first place...

When I was skint at the start of this year, sensible driving saw me get 40 mpg out of my Cup. When I dont reset my trip for a while it usually shows between 28-30.
Ive had quite a few late night runs between Oxford/Cirencester/Cheltenham where I would get 17/18mpg...
I only asked about the roofs cos I kept seeing posts about how leaky they are!
To recap then:
It will have PAS, I can get one without ABS (cos Im a bit silly like that:oops:) and I should try and get a little poppy up roof, not an electric slider??
Ive just phoned my contact at Renault...
I could well be in the market for a valver in the new year once my Cup goes and my company car arrives and have had a look on here/ebay/trader etc but just had a couple of quick questions for those in the know...
Did they make a valver without a sunroof?
Was ABS standard, always an option or...
I stopped selling Renaults in March 2001 and knocked a few of this model out. (I even bought a Sunflower Yellow one myself!) Before Jan01 they had a 1.2 Grande and a 1.4 sport which was an 8valve engine. In Jan they replace the 1.4 8v with a 1.2 16v and thus called it the Clio 16v. It all...
Havent they bought out/about to bring out a new Focus?
ps - was on a track day with a modded ST170. It went well enough till his clutch went bang
