Figures. Not too bad but was hoping for a little more. especially when some people manage 203bhp from these cams and an induction kit?
Loads of pictures to follow. It's quite a nice bit of kit and is all detachable
Hard not to agree with you Nick. The pistons were bought as the std ones were scrap (ours failed and so have others - poor casting) and it seemed crazy not to put some cams in whilst the engine was apart. The inlet was a "if we dont try it, we will never know" exercise and in reality cost is...
Update #21 - Rolling Road
Bit of a strange one this, as i would ideally like to have documented the inlet build first, but hey ho I have a day off today so thought i might aswell write up the day at RS Tuning - Mike can write up the airbox build later on.
Originally (earlier in the week) we...
Update# 20 something - Inlet manifold
Right. before i write up the results of the rolling road day i need to rewind a few months! During the engine build process Mike and I thought we could have a go at making our own inlet manifold! We wanted to see if we cold improve on Renaults design and...
I'm still sticking with my original figure Fred. After last nights experimental run (the first time we have revved it over 5k) it feels very strong. Enough to make Mike and I giggle anyway.
200bhp. There, I have said it - and that's on Pauls dyno
Mike and I have sunk quite a few hours in to the car over the last week or two readying it for mapping.
We're off to see Paul at RS Tuning tomorrow. Looking forward to see what the engine produces. Some interesting updates to come over the next few days!
Yes. Really good read that. Refreshing to see it related to back to back practical tests rather than theory!
Dan's pictures above are the ones I remember seeing before.
According to some of my online based calculations 15mm change in runner length can shift torque by 250rpm. All theory of...
Re: dished wheel.
Fair enough. I suppose it must be difficult trying to accommodate different sizes of driver and keep pitstops to a short time.
Despite your arms looking too stretched I thought you did a great job of taming the beast in to some of those corners!
Yep. I have been trying to gain info from people with real world experience rather than theory. The more you read the more you realise how involved some of the design aspects can become.
I don't know the answer about resonant frequencies and itb's rather than plenums etc. I would still think...
Looking good Dan. Inside rattle can paint looks good enough for a track car. Mike and I need to do ours at some point. Will let you know when be book a track day.
Seat padding and a wheel I reckon. Craning your neck to look in the rear view mirror had me in stitches. You live and learn.
In a race car do the seats have have fixed bases? Ie - no runners.
Swede Cup. Have you got before and after graphs for 90mm and 120mm trumpets? Would be interested to see the difference.
As part of a little project lately I have been researching runner lengths and reading information found on various sites suggests that generally the longer the runner the...
Well done guys with completing the race.
Looks like the car needs a few alterations with regards to the handling. What have you got planned before your next outing?
Re: Namakubi Clio 172 Cup "track project"
Impressive amount of work gone in to this over quite a short period. Are you heading towards racing in the future?
Also, just watched your 1 lap video with Brands and noticed your using Harry's lap time. I like the look of the overlays. Suppose its got...
Cracking - cheers Laine!
Funny - ive seen this picture in your project thread but didnt think to search for what filter you used. Looks like it will fit by the battery/headlight in my application.
Evening,
I need to order a few parts to make up a filter kit to suit a little project we are currently working on. Does anyone know the exact Pipercross part number that's normally used when the filter sits between the headlight and battery. Suppose the most common application is with the Stone...
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
Cracking write up James.
Truly shocking list of bodges; not to be expected on a car with this level of investment!
As I have said elsewhere, congratulations on a brilliant drive. If it wasn't for the...
Hi Dan.
Car is currently at BTM having the running in oil swapped out for the proper stuff and the mocal cooler also connected.
It's then off to RS Tuning the following Thursday for mapping. We will see what that brings and then look to book the track day.
More updates to follow in the week - stay posted:)
Massive congratulations on your race drive. I was disappointed to not make it up there in the end but it couldn't be helped. Sounds like everyone had a great time.
When you partially removed the starter did it spin?
The small spade should only see 12v when you are trying to start the engine and fall back to 0v when the key is in other positions.
Starter can come out the top with the 182 manifold. Did ours the other week. It's diddly and you have to...
