Drilling isn't worth it. Just pull out the upper CAF (with the accoustic valve in it) Just loosen it from the air box and leave it. You will suck in hot air, but the sound will be the same as a drilled box. Tried it myself, the sound is amazing. On a 172 it is anyway.
