I drive both my 172 cup with a quickshift and the wife's 182 without, and much rather drive mine. The 182 is like jumping into a bus. The quickshift also helped a slightly slopy gearbox, as the replacement "tophat" bushes are much snugger.
All this is just my opinion.

In my eyes it is all about the enginering, and the ability to do something that has not been done before, by having something so powerful in something so inconspicuous is just a build challenge.
