Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread
may only be a few mm, but believe me, when me and chris had it jacked up and turned the passenger wheel it was making the gearbox/engine assy move from side to side because of the driveshaft being too long/ wishbones too short.
Re: Valver Track Car Project Thread
Chris, make sure you check the length compared to your willy ones, to check the extra isn't gained from using a different bottom ball joint and it is the wishbone that is longer
I know people think you're a guru, Fred, but £250 for a cambelt and pulleys? not last time i checked 18 months ago, more like £120 for parts from Renault
You're right, swear i saw it on there, however the new catalogue doesn't list the shims for the mk2 either and the website says while stocks last. mmmmm guess they aint making them anymore! glad i've already got mine!
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
just cable tie the compensator to the beam (forward from under the car) to allow max pressure through. might want to exercise it a bit first
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
f0xy, are you running a valver rev counter off a 172 coil pack? if reading half on scale and you have you may find they are not compatable. I'll try and explain later if you need me to
i use a helix paddle clutch as i destroyed the original one at santa pod! Your spec is nearly the same as mine i still have short trumpets and forged rods. Where did you get your trumpets from as i'm struggling to get hold of some. I've also removed the pas too.
+1 on the gearbox myth. my car does santa pod and trackdays mainly. It doesn't get driven gently, however i can change gear properly and 18 months on, 180 ftlbs / 240 bhp ish it's still absolutly fine. ( and now on 77k miles)
and the cup has a 129 g/b ( proper cup that is ;))
so you have itb's, high comp, and 423's. head work? anything else?
i have itbs, high comp, forged rods, headwork,182 mani, and 2.5" custom 1 off exhaust.
bearing in mind mine needs retuning, at the last check i had 211bhp @ 7.2k and 170 ftlb @ 5k (to 6.5k) i have 140ftlbs at 3k which is more...
Arp bolt the rods for deffo, and same valve lift as 422's so should work with the woosners. i recon the diff between that setup and mine will be a few more bhp higher up the rev range. Let me know, mate.....

Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
f0xy, how did you get the oil temp/ pressure to work on the 172, cos i really need it on mine with my setup as i can get hold of some valver guages
