Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
that's not tappy, come listen to my 422's, thats tappy! good work mate, pissed off now, gonna have to try hard to stay in front of you at marham now! lol
It was RR'd at 233/177 but now has 182 manifold, delete sportscat and new 2.5 exhaust, delete pas.
was RR'd recently at 211, but air fuel ratio was not good so need it mapped again. There's potentally 240 horses there when it all goes spot on ;)
I'm suprised your engine is still under the bonnet! you risk standard rods breaking at 7.5k and lifters break around 8.2k
Unless you are running race spec cams, why rev so high, you won't be making any more power past about 7.5k it's not a vtec honda engine you know
i'm running 422's on vanos. Interested in the setting standard pulleys in the same way as adjustable pulleys if you have more info. Suppose i could bring my vanos at 400 rpm so on all the time like deleted ones. I'd say 423's would be too much for standard rods, i'm running forged and high comp...
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
Whiteley is right no spectators, and if you do wanna 'tag' along you need to get your name on the list before it closes tomorrow as it's a raf camp and security checks have to be done.

Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
oh f0xy that's exactly what happened to mine, spun bearing. rod looks ok, but you may need a new crank! you'll have to get it machined with bigger bearing to suit if the crank is ok. best start ringing round breakers to get a new secondhand crank.
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
it's gonna be one of them sod's law things, didn't work, take apart, find nowt wrong, put back together and hopefully all better again
i've got 400 in front and rear. Rears are eibach black in colour and fronts are orange. Haven't driven it in anger yet but backs seem harder than the fronts on speedbumps etc
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
How much effort did the pulley bolt take to shear off? just wondering if it was weak anyway? could be a problem with the starter if the solenoid engaged but didn't turn the motor, it could have then locked the flywheel???
you have all the fun! lol
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
i personally wouldn't even worry about the snapped bolt, get the engine out, head off and see what's what, before wasting any more time on a knackered engine
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
secondhand from northern Ireland. had no choice with the rebuild cost because of the state of tune of the engine, it would still have cost that much to do the same to another block. live and learn.
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
even so a spun bearing will kill the crank and con rod. end of. £800 for a crank new and rods come in sets for about £400 iirc. I managed to get a crank for £90 and £450 for forged rods and £3000 to rebuild
