I think once you start talking about turbocharging any Clio there will be a practical limit that you can use on the road, and it wont matter whether your base car is an old school F7 1.8 or 2.0, or a new F4R with the variable whatnots; 240/250bhp will be the sensible limit, just that the F4R...
Yeah I get the feeling a decent noise will be just the ticket. Theres not a lot of power to lose on an RT anyway and the engine bays a lot more roomy than on a valver, so why not go for an IK. Whatever I think I know about induction etc, Id still put a cone filter on an RT just for the hell of it!
turbo turbo turbo turbo turbo turbo
but if you wanna go for NA, I put together a possible spec for a tidy 200bhp lump, gathering together all the expertise from the boffins (ie Ben) on here and with various Renault tuners etc, before I decided to go for my turbo conversion:
worked-on 1.8...
lol Rick, youd be surprised mate, last year when we were organising the trip to France for 30 Cliosport members, booking that many people in one go opens a lot of doors! Seriously if we had enough people I cant see any reason why we really couldnt book an entire ferry for one crossing there and...
Yeah Steve, I tried just about everything, mainly so I when people ask, I can tell them from genuine experience rather than hearsay. I think on the valver the original airbox is an unusually good design compared to other Renaults and other manufacturers, its directly bolted to the throttle body...
Remember were perceived as a 5GTT specialist for a long time and its only in the last year or so that theyve been known for their Clio work. So the majority of Clio owners whove had theirs chipped will be running either a Hill Power chip, Superchip or Unichip. There are others but these are the...
Yeah but Eddddd thats what Mr Average would do. If you wanna be Mr Average then go ahead and sign up at the nearest showroom for a brand new Scooby. In fact why stop there, why not drive the Ultimate Driving Machine?
Or on the other hand why not keep the car you know and love and make it...
lol good call Dunc, why not have show *and* go? I still think flames are cool as long as its little bursts of flame spitting out so quick youre not sure whether it really did it or not. Something like the Cossie above is way too much IMHO.
Frosty, so once you let off, and the throttle snaps...
BTW Having looked at the Green trade catalogue, their universal filters are actually precisely power rated, according to their size/surface area etc.
Personally Id go for the BMC unless you spend all your time in cold weather driving at speed.
I used a BMC CDA on my Clio and it was without a doubt the best filter I used. A noticeable improvement, in fact so good that for the first two weeks I had it, I was out driving every night just for the hell of it.
Previous to that I had the original airbox and element (OK), K&N cone filter...
Spot on Frosty (the snowman?) BB know their stuff. Cord - I dunno what your experience in these matters is, but as someone who has tried lots of different routes to power, including for a lot of nitrous for about a year and a half, I can safely say Im sticking with my turbo conversion...
well who would have thought this one would have run to 4 pages!?
lol Ben..."your ability to break with no abs is nothing special, many old people still do it in non abs cars and have been doin it for ages."
Yeah at the grand old age of 29 :DIve been ploughing the brakes on the public roads...
yeah I just picked it up, nice to see all the Cliosport crew in there this month, looks like we almost run the magazine, every page it seemed there were people I know. Nice to see a bit of French car cameraderie developing there as well, theres no reason why we cant do more and more of this kind...
Well Bill theres only one way of knowing, take up John on his offer, although its not quite as standard as it was.
Anyway as a 16v owner, I will always rate the Williams, and IMHO it is the best hot hatch *ever* - as a souped up version of the 16v it had to be! To my mind hot hatches mean one...
well when you come down to Southend bring the video camera mate and Ill do the filming, you do the driving, then well get some proper timing done, just like remember when no-one believed your Willy was that fast, then you took me round Donny on a few flying laps in it.
Then you can take the...

Im no expert on turbo systems so please correct me if Im wrong, but
1. the dump valve has nothing to do with letting charge into the exhaust system. On a car without an airflow meter (eg my soon to be turbod Clio) the ECU detects boost using the MAP sensor. If youre on full boost then let off...
hehe same here. The foam must weigh another 300g so I leave that at home as well. Its perfectly legal to drive around without a spare tyre anyway, as long as youve got AA cover who needs a spare wheel?
A Viper is basically an airbox. An induction kit is open to the engine bay whereas an airbox is designed to be sealed from hot engine bay air and draw air in through a feed pipe coming from somewhere cold.
Coolant temp sensor needed replacing when mine did that. It was basically choking when it was already warmed up and not choking when it was cold and needed it. All sorts of other things it could be, dirty idle speed control valve, dodgy speedo cable etc. Best bet is get a Renault diagnostic box...
Too bad Bill my friend, I really feel for you there...you gotta catch em red handed. Like John and I did when he was over mine a couple of weeks ago, we heard some glass smashing down my street and saw a gang of blazing squad style youths ambling off as if they were some kind of untouchables...
The blue thingy that was being described is known in the trade as a Scotchlock. Or a bodgelock in other words, but it will do the job for what you want. Just find the wire that supplies the 12v when you touch the brake pedal. Chop into this with the scotchlock and run this wire up to the 3rd...
