To strip or not to strip

How painful a task is it, I'm very lazy and get bored easily. Just a screwdriver and Stanley knife?

To strip or not to strip

The cars been built for 75% trackdays / 25% road use, including chucking the golf clubs in the back or if i can't be arsed to get the other car out of the garage then driving down the supermarket etc. But i do have to drive it to trackdays which can be easy enough e.g Brands or a bit further...

Apologies not sure what happened with my English there, i meant to say.... "the guy did say that it was a grey area, the roll cage being under the top sweep of the window wiper, some people might fail it. Anyway here's some semi decent snaps." How do i edit a post?.... err just seen the edit...

172 Track Car - Work carried out.

I just got rid of 360hp / 812kg worth of elise, fancied a change my plan with this is to keep it and use it to improve my track skills, I'll be modding at a slow pace now, I thought this would be a nice starting point. I didn't want to do too much to the engine straight away, I wanted handling...

172 Track Car - Work carried out.

There were a few niggles along the way which required quite a lot of labour cost. One of the downsides of being mechanically inept. there was 100hrs labour, thank god Mark was very generous on this front or it could have been a lot bigger bill.

172 Track Car - Work carried out.

Aye it hasn't been cheap, i'd better not dwell on the cost. Good job i won't have to sell it any time soon At least this is going on me rather than house, holidays, wife etc. My little indulgence.

172 Track Car - Work carried out.

I forgot to mention, the only bit i'm not happy about at the moment is there is alot of play when you're in gear, quite a sloppy gearbox, i might look at one of those short shift kits.

172 Track Car - Work carried out.

Well i picked the car up last night a couple of days earlier than planed it's the first time i've seen it since dropping off. I'm very happy, it's certainly given the old girl a new lease of life. I had to drive back from Harlow to Billericay and decided to use the A414 and country lanes which...

172 Track Car - Work carried out.

I bought a 52 plate 172 Cup back in July last year for £2200, it had 72k on the clock, the service book had been lost but it had receipts (inc cam belt) and a host of old MoTs, the HPI came up clear, the intention was to have it as a basic run around and use my other car as the track car. At the...

Yep, what a perfectionist, i gave the car to him two months ago, 100 hrs labour plus all the parts i think it's going to be quite special

The reason for me just giving the seats away is otherwise i'm going to skip them, i really can't be arsed to haggle over a few quid

Just thought i'd say thanks to the Cliosport.net population, you're a good bunch that answer questions promptly and to the point. It's certainly helped me achieve what i want and thats building (with Mark Fish's expertise) a damn good fun and reasonably cheap track car. Although don't ask how...

    Torque wrench and trolley jack

Hi I'm getting my car back on Wednesday after being built into a track car, i've got the standard Turnins with 16" Toyo R1R's for wet trackdays and normal road use and 2118's with Dunlop slicks for track use, i need a trolley jack and a torque wrench, can anyone recommend some? Also any...

Thats what Morg172 has just recommended. Can't be bad then if two of you say that's the way to go.

    Tyres

Really!!! Nice and cheap to, how are they on dry roads as they'd be my daily tyre

    4 Pots

I've got Braided hoses and racing fluid as well. I suppose the best thing is to see how i get on and make an informed decision rather than jumping in. I saw a Willwood setup out the box for sale in the classifieds for £700, thought it wasn't to expensive.

    4 Pots

I've got Brembo HC's and the Fedorra (?) pads on the front and rear, is it worth considering 4pots for track work with the standard engine or is this sufficient. What are the prefered 4 pots?

    Tyres

Hi I've got a set of semi slicks on 15" 2118's looking for some road/wet tyres for the 16" ones, i'm thinking Toyo R1R's, has anyone got any other suggestions? Also, wheres the best place to buy tyres Thanks
