Quick question, but could I use the Top End Treatment even though my tappets are manual and not Hydraulic. Would I still see some benefits, i.e. Quieter operation?
Thanks. :)
My bro has had this fitted to his old 1.8 focus and now his new one. There was a marked improvement on the RR day with his first car (he had that IK and just a cat-back exhaust nothing else) and saw +8bhp! Quite a gain, better than a kick in the teeth. Good noise too.
So I'm a fan of the...

What problems have you had??
I took mine to a garage and they said it couldn't be done as it was seized. Well 2 weeks of spraying wd40 and penetrating spray on to it later, I tried it myself. Used a tap on oneside to re-do the thread as it was pretty bad. Came out no bother and the only...
I have a Ph2 ('95) RT and my mates is a Ph3('96) RT and the airbox shape is exactly the same. So the filter will fit no bother, I have that panel filter. It's good, no complaints. :) I bought it from MotorSportWorld and if you look in the section for ITG Replacement Filters and then select...
Depends what you mean by best? Best quality? Best sound? Best gains? Best value for money?
There's a good few options though. Mongoose or Scorpion do a system for the RT I believe, as do Ashley Competition, you could get a custom Powerflow one made up also, or get a Piper exhaust.
Loudest...
Ashley Backbox? Mild steel, so not expensive and should last a few years till you can go cat-back? Good sound too. :) Can be had from motorsportworld for £80-£100.
lol I've been stalling a bit the past few days... I had a new clutch fitted to the RT and before hand it was really heavy and that is what I've been used to for nearly 2yrs now. Now though, its amazingly soft and light and the biting point is much lower.... so I keep stalling when pulling off...
No way? I didn't realise you could get after-market manifolds for a 1.2 8v.
Where's it from?? It does look the biz though, hope it shows some gains for you Maxx! :)
Cambelt, tensioners, aux belt as well. May as well if you are doing the head gasket and stuff. :) Maybes slap some new plugs + ht leads on and a new battery while your there. :) Clean your airfilter as well and re-oil. :)
Here you go...
Mk1 Ph2 RT (Champs-Elysees) with Ph1 rear lights and a Ph3 boot to confuse matters. Also added a leather interior from the 5dr Bacarra model Clio. :)
Just needs to get lowered now!!
You could do it yourself???? There are like 2 similar guides for lowering the back, which I'll find, and then I'm sure the Haynes will tell you how to take out the front springs, voila! :) Do it over a weekend... jobs a good 'un.
Fogs.... "to be used when foggy". Not for everyday driving!! That's kinda the problem. ;) Dipped beams are more than adequate for night \ dusk use, if they seem dull people should perhaps buy some brighter bulbs (Like the super-brights or whatever). I have and I can see an improvement.
I agree totally!! The amount of people on an evening when leaving work that drive with sidelights + fogs is just crazy. It's not cool and annoying. Does my nut in! It's not just Clio drivers, although I am noticing more and more people using them on the Mk2's. And just like you, I can't...
